Hotel where the Millners stayed in Neuhaus
Back to Neuhaus
Of the many stories we have heard about the Millners' trip to Hungary in June, their trip to Neuhaus (named by the Czechs is now J
indrichuv Hradechas) has been the most interesting to me personally. Particularly interesting because it is the name of one of my favorite wines (goes great with a bit of sharp cheddar cheese and a warm baguette) and being I have Czech roots. My maternal grandfather was from the old Bohemia, and these cities are to the south of that region. Dolní Zďár (N
iedermühl was the name pre WWI) is where Don's family was located. It is 1.5-2 miles from and would have been a short walk to
Neuhaus, where they likely conducted most of their business.
I have been dreaming of a trip to this area of the world for a long time. Don's stories of his own heritage and ties there inspire me to start the planning process! Do you have dreams of visiting a country of your ancestors or have you taken an inspirational trip? Come tell us all about it! Celebrating our roots is one of the many things that makes #thefunwinery so special, and we'd love to share our stories with you, too.
Come get a glass (or a bottle) of our Goes Well with POT Roast wine! We just bottled this beautiful red yesterday, and it is ready to sample, sip and take home. It goes really well with...Neuhaus.
