Message from Superintendent Cruz

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Welcome to a brand new year in Franklin-McKinley Schools! We are glad to have you as part of our school family and hope you are looking forward to the 2018-2019 academic year. During this time, parents and guardians are preparing their children for the start of school on August 20, 2018. While this is an exciting time, we realize many children are expressing strong feelings of fear, and/or angst as they are watching the treatment of families and young children being separated on various media channels.

As the Superintendent of Schools, I want to reinforce our commitment to ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students regardless of their race, immigration status, religion, or sexual orientation and will be offered an equal opportunity in receiving a quality education.

Free & Reduced Lunch Applications Now Available! Submit Today!

Free & Reduced Lunch Applications are now available for the 2018-2019 school year. All families should submit an application to determine eligibility for their children. Lunch applications have already been sent in the mail and can be returned to your child's school upon being completed OR you can submit online by clicking here .

Building Bright Futures: Facilities Update

We are excited to have completed a number of facility modernization and school yard projects just in time for the start of school. Below is a complete list of summer projects and key updates.

Franklin School Modernization- The Franklin School Modernization project has now been completed. The school will open its doors this August with a completely modernized campus including a new pick up and drop off location, fencing, new administration building, classrooms and much more. Estimated Cost: $22 million ($11 million Measure H and $11 million from Measure J)

2018-2019 Student & Parent Handbook

As we begin the 2018-2019 school year, it is important that we are all aware of the Franklin-McKinley School District’s policies, regulations, and guiding practices which shape our student’s well-being and academic success. Within the next two weeks, parents will receive a Parent & Student Handbook in the mail. Please review with your child and keep the Handbook readily available throughout the course of the school year to reference as needed.

Summer Programs Recap

The Franklin-McKinley School District hosted a variety of programs to support the continued learning of more than 1,200 students this summer. From literacy programs to ALearn, this summer was full of fun experiences and unique learning opportunities for students.
