Cincinnati City Council approves two new 
Park Board Comissioners

The Cincinnati Park Board welcomes two new Park Board Commissioners; Alan Bradford Lindner and Linda Lee Thomas. Mayor John Cranley nominated both appointees to serve as Board of Park Commissioners, and they were approved by City Council on February 8, 2017.
 
The Park Board is pleased with both nominees, and welcomes their strong commitment to land conservation, the environment, and for their commitment to the overall wellness of the community.
 
President of the Park Board; Dianne Rosenberg, stated that she looks forward to meeting and working with both Commissioners, and welcomes continued discussion on how the Board can maintain the high standards and successes the Park System has achieved over the past 200 years!
 
"Cincinnati Parks has a strong standing in the community, and we receive much support of our parks and programs. I am confident the two new Commissioners will share our vision as well.

  Summer Youth Program
Applicants should be 16 or 17 years of age. Returning applicants up to 18 year of age. Must reside within the City of Cincinnati and meet the federal income guidelines.
The Cincinnati Parks Green Leaf Summer Youth Jobs Program is an 8-week summer job program. Workers will be paid $10.10 per hour for up to 24 hours per week.

Opening Date: 3/1/17
Closing Date: 6/10/17
Salary: $10.10/hour

Hundreds of beautiful and exotic orchids will be on display and judged during the competition. Orchids and supplies will be available for purchase from vendors, and local orchid experts will share expert tips on growing or purchasing your first orchid.

  Pancakes in the Wood
Celebrate the maple season! Enjoy pancakes and sausage grilled by celebrity chefs at the Marian J. and Charles D. Lindberg Nature Center . Learn about the process and story of maple sugaring with ongoing demonstrations and hands-on activities during the event. Don't forget to take a walk or short hike in the woods to enjoy the colorful carpet of wildflowers.  Breakfast seatings are first come, first serve; no reservations are required. Welcome to the Cincinnati Parks Krohn Conservatory 2017 Butterfly Show, The Majestic Monarch!. Grab your Butterfly Show Field Journal and flutter along with us and our imaginary character "Mona" through the Krohn showroom resembling fields and forests that "Mona" and her Monarch friends would likely visit on their long journey across North Americas. Experience what it's like to be a butterfly surrounded by towering fir trees, giant flowers, and islands of color as you fly by beautiful hydrangeas, marvelous marigolds, and gorgeous celosia.

  Spring Break Nature Day Camp

Let's grow!  It's spring and time to learn about gardens, composting, and other spring things.  Meet your favorite  Pokémon   plant characters and learn about how plants grow as you start your "take home" garden!  Find out about the insects that will visit your garden this summer.  We will sample some tasty plants and even a bug or two.  A hike to the creek hike will help us discover the plants in our forest and wetland.

Naturally Fun Birthday Parties
   
Available on weekends throughout the year at all five Nature Centers ; weekdays are available in December - January and August - September.  For a two hour party appropriate for ages 5 - 10 years, the Naturalist provides 90 minutes of nature activities such as a short hike, hands-on activities and a simple craft to keep as a memento. The last 30 minutes is for cake and presents...YUM! Details can be found at the Explore Nature! section of our website. Please call 321-6070 at least 3 weeks in advance of the proposed date.
Fee: $150 for up to 10 children; $15 for each additional child.
Topics to choose from: Creepy Crawly (Insects, Spiders, Reptiles and Amphibians), Fantastic Fossils, Forest Friends (Mammals and other animal groups) and Winged Wonders (Birds, Butterflies and Bats).
