A Look Back at
The Main Street Alabama Awards of Excellence Banquet
|
|
The Main Street Alabama Awards of Excellence Banquet is a night of celebrating the successes of Alabama's Main Street programs.
Florence Main Street received three awards!
Florence Main Street received an award for the Stocking Surprise in the category of Excellence in Businesses Promotion.
We also received an award in the category of Excellence in Historic Preservation for restoration on the Karsner-Kennedy House, the building in which Florence Main Street's office is located.
In the category of Excellence in Fundraising, we won an award for our annual Christmas parade.

A Look Back at
Lion Night
|

#LionNight is an event for UNA Students to become aware of #DowntownFlorence businesses in a fun and interactive way! Students were given the chance to enter a drawing multiple times for the grand $1,000 Lion Night Scholarship presented by the Student Government Association of UNA. In addition, SGA gave away a second scholarship in the amount of $500. Then to top off the night, Main Street gave away $100 of Downtown Dollars to 15 lucky University of North Alabama students to spend in downtown.
Rachel Wammack, who later put on a performance on Mobile Street, and SGA members waiting patiently for UNA students to hit the town.
UNA cheerleaders handed out flyers for Paradox Florence, a new business in downtown Florence, as they helped students find businesses in downtown!
The band WILLIS also performed for students on Mobile Street in downtown Florence as they waited for winners to be announced!
SGA President Sara Green and Miss UNA, Jocelyn Barnes helped answer students questions and direct them to businesses throughout downtown.
Students filled out slips of paper at each business to be entered into the drawing to win!
15 lucky students won $100 worth of Downtown Dollars to spend at participating businesses in Downtown Florence!

What's Happening in Downtown Florence in September

Bacon
lovers and mark your calendars now! Florence Main Street is bringing the Bacon Crawl back to downtown Florence this fall!
How it works:
Participating merchants will have samples of all types of bacon treats for ticket holders to enjoy while they shop hop through downtown. For example, one store might have Bacon Pancake dippers and the next store could have Maple Caramel Bacon Bark, either way you will want to taste everything while you explore downtown Florence!

Paddles up, Shoals! The Dragons are returning to the Tennessee River on
Saturday, October 1, for the 4th annual Shoals Dragon Boat Festival. This fun, family-friendly event, sponsored by Kilby Laboratory School, is the only event of its kind in the Shoals. Last year 30 boats raced on the Tennessee River, and more than 5,000 people attended the Festival held at McFarland Park. This year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever!
This is an exciting, team-building event. Co-workers, church groups, school clubs, Greek organizations, athletic teams, friends, family, and neighbors all make great dragon boat race teams.
Join Singin' River Brewery for an evening of relaxing with friends with delicious cheese plates and plenty of wine, while you unleash your inner artist. There will be step by step instructions provided as you create a masterpiece to take home-- no experience necessary! $30 includes one glass of wine, a cheese board, 16x20 canvas, painting supplies, and instruction for creating a beautiful work of art.
