Auntie Wooly Says:
Auntie

Hello, Dahlings!

Our Weekend Away was another study in fun and fiber! Once again, knitters from all over came to our little town of Cambria to enjoy good food, meet new friends, and learn about Knitting techniques from the one and only Gwen Bortner!

Our theme this year was Color, and boy did we have fun with it!

Click here to see pictures from the weekend.

And if you weren't able to join us, set aside the time next year, we'll be doing it again!

Until next time... Happy Stitching, My Dears!

Arizona Dream Mountain Hues Colinette is Coming!!

It's been almost two years since we moved into our 'new' location, and to celebrate, we're bringing Sam of Colinette Yarns in from Wales!

As many of you know, Colinette was one of the original independant hand-dyers in the industry and the Ball & Skein has a long history with these wonderful yarns. Sam is Colinette's son and has been taking the reigns over the last few years. We're so delighted we'll be able to introduce him to all of you at a special event and Open House, celebrating 2 years in our much larger location on Main Street!

Save the date, Saturday May 17. Details are coming so stay tuned! Meanwhile,  click here to check out all the beautiful yarns we have from Colinette!
Hand dyed mink Barry Klein of Trendsetter Yarns
We're also excited to announce we'll be joined this fall by Barry Klein, Knitwear designer, Founder of Trendsetter Yarns, and all around great guy! On November 1, Barry will be in the shop where we will help him celebrate 26 years of fabulous yarns. So save the date, we have a weekend full of fun scheduled for such a momentous occasion!

Don't miss it!

Cin Cin Trendsetter Cin Cin

A new fabulous yarn in from Trendsetter is Cin Cin! A fun, no wool yarn that creates a wonderful texture as you work with it. Great for garments or accessories, 3 skeins of Cin Cin makes a beautiful scarf!

Cotton Sparkle Cotton Sparkle
From Euro Yarns, we've received a great new yarn. It's cotton with a little 'bling' to make that new spring or summer piece. Soft, no wool, and just enough sparkle to make it fun!

We're working this up (knitted) using one skein as a scarf. For crochet, we'd recommend 2 skeins. We think you'll love it!

Silkystones Scarf Another winner from Rowan!
Rowan Silkystones is a fantastic Silk/Linen blend.

This yarn is so soft and has great drape. Another wool free effort, you'll love how it feels in your hand. All the advantages of linen combined with the luxurious softness of silk.

If wet stones at the ocean were soft, this is what it would look like.

Want to try it out? You should! Here's a free pattern written for 2 balls of Silkystones. You can either knit the scarf long as we did, or stop short of using all of the second ball.

Kakadu Queensland Kakadu!

Kakadu is one of Australia's largest and most beautiful National Parks. It's also the name of this new, wool free yarn from Queensland! It has great yardage and a fantastic price. We're working up a new 'triple stranded' wrap that's easy to do and looks like a million once you're done! Three skeins will be plenty to make a good sized shawl using the triple strand technique.

It feels a bit like linen, but softer and more forgiving to work with.

See it on-line here!

New Yarn from Alchemy!
Presenting 'Sparky' and 'Lust'

Sparky

Sparky is similar to 'Silken Straw' with the addition of a metallic wrap that gives it a delightful sparkle and makes it easier to knit! We did a simple, fast scarf from one skein of Sparky. Ask us for the pattern when you order the yarn and we'll send it for free!

Lust
Lust is what you'll feel when you get your hands on this wonderful silk/wool blend. Think of it as a fingering weight version of Sanctuary. So soft, so nice to use. We have a fingerless glove pattern and a beret pattern using one skein of this yarn. Choose one and get it free with your purchase of Lust!
