We have all sorts of news to share and you can expect at least one more update email before the final Pre-Race Report on Thursday September 18th. Of course, if there is any specific information we feel you need we may send additional emails.  

 Accommodation Specials

 

The Niagara Falls Barrelman Triathlon is partnering with Niagara Falls Tourism to assist in bringing you the best and easiest way to book your accommodation.  Through their Niagara Falls Tourism Sports Housing Module, you will be able to select from a variety of accommodation options and also access special offers, specific for Niagara Falls Triathlon, for attractions and tourism destinations in the area.

There are seven partner hotels offering a preferred rate for the Niagara Falls Barrelman Triathlon athletes. We recommend booking your accommodations now for the best selection.

Barrelman Commemorative Finisher Hockey Jerseys

  

The deadline for ordering one of these great momentos is Monday September 1st but if you missed ordering, don't worry. We will have samples onsite all weekend and you will be able to order your Barrelman Commemorative Finishers Hockey Sweater for $90 after the race.  

 

This includes a $25 voucher towards an entry into the 2015 Barrelman or towards official Barrelman merchandise. The voucher can be used by the athlete purchasing the jersey or they can gift it to a friend. 

 

Niagara Falls to Welland Race Day Shuttle Bus Service and Race Day Parking 

  

There will now be two parking and shuttle options for athletes on race day.
  1. Park in Niagara Falls at Upper Rapids parking area, on race morning just 800m from the Finish Line and take the 18 minute shuttle to Welland. After the race you will be able to leave the race site and be back at your car within minutes. The parking fee will be $10 and can be paid on Saturday at Race Kit Pick-up. For those athletes who have friends watching the race there will be IN/OUT privileges at the parking area.
  2. For athletes racing and staying overnight in Welland, MultiSport Canada has added limited shuttle bus service from Niagara Falls back to Welland AFTER the race. There will be a $10 fee for this service and you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE YOUR BIKE ON THE SHUTTLE BUS. You will be able to take the shuttle to Welland, pick-up your car and then drive back to Niagara Falls to pick-up your bike. When you return to Niagara Falls to pick-up your bike you will have to ($10 fee) in the Upper Rapids parking area, walk to the race site and pick-up your bike. The total expense for this service will be $10 for the shuttle and $10 for parking when you drive back to pick-up your bike.

If you are planning on driving to Welland on race morning we strongly recommend arranging your own transportation for maximum flexibility. Details of the shuttle bus services can be found on the Barrelman website.

Beer and Wine Garden

  

 

 

The Niagara Falls Barrelman has partnered with the Mill St. Brewery to provide a beer garden in Kingsbridge park on Sunday! The beer garden will be located in the athlete expo area, between Transition #2 and the Finish Line. It will be a great spot for family and friends to watch the race.

Group Awards Addition From Rockway Estates 

  

 

The other exciting news is that Rockway Estates is now the Official Winery Sponsor. We will be presenting the top three triathlon age group winners in each age group with a special Barrelman bottle of wine. The top three relay team members, and over and under 40 in the swim/bike and bike/run will also we awarded a bottle of Barrelman wine. Rockway will be serving wine in the Barrelman Beer Garden. 

Barrelman Race Gear by Champion Systems 

  


 

We are working with our friends at Champion Systems and are happy to announce there is a full line-up of Barrelman gear available to order online. If you want to see samples they will be onsite on race weekend. Check them out in the Champion Systems tent at the expo and order online. 
 

Relay Team Challenge

  

 

Two of the top young guns in triathlon, Cody Beals and Lionel Sanders, will be joining us at Barrelman. If your relay team can take down the faster of the two on race day, your team will be given back your entry fees!

Important Other News  

  

Lunch Is Served Spectators will be able to partake in a BBQ on race day in the Expo area in Kingsbrige Park. The Niagara Parks Commission will be selling tickets to spectators for a BBQ on race day. Details coming.

Course Cut-Off Times Please visit the website for the revised weekend day schedule and the times for Saturday check-in, mandatory athlete briefings and course cut-off times on race day.

Race Day Insurance and License Fees
Athletes who are members of Triathlon Ontario will need to produce their Triathlon Ontario membership card at race kit pick-up. If you do not have a membership or do not produce one there will be a license fee of $10. Athletes who are members of other Canadian Provincial Governing Bodies can apply to be exempt from the One Day License if they produce proof of membership. Unfortunately USAT does not have a reciprocal arrangement with Triathlon Ontario. 
   
ITU Long Distance World Championship Qualifier!
Barrelman will offer participants a chance to qualify for the 2015 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championship in Sweden and 3 qualifying spots per age group are up for grabs.
