Extra! 19 August 2010
Dear Bath City Fan,

We are proud to announce the newest addition to the Bath City team!

Unfortunately, he doesn't have a name yet, so we'll just have to make do with describing him. He's a pig!

Why a pig? According to legend, in 863 BC, Bladud, King of the Britons, was cured of his leprosy when he bathed in the some naturally warm mud after watching his pigs do the same. He was so pleased he founded the city of Bath on the very spot!

Ever since then Bath has had an unusual fondness for pigs, and we at Bath City FC have decided to carry on this tradition.

But our new friend needs help. He has no name! Bath City FC and the Bath Chronicle are inviting the children of Bath to help us decide what to call him. Read below to find out how you can help out!

BATH CITY SIGN A PIG!
Pig With No Name

Bath City announced this morning that they are the first team in the Blue Square Bet Premier to sign a pig.

It is reported that the pig has a decent right foot, and is good on muddy pitches.

According to manager Adie Britton the signing makes sense for Bath City:

'To be honest, he's never going to be our best player. He tends to wallow around on the pitch a lot. But he's offered to join us for practically nothing. He just wanted a few leftovers from Charlie's after each match.'

It has been reported that if he was not signed the pig had threatened to go 'wee, wee, wee, wee' all the way home, but Adie refused to comment.
NAME THE PIG!
Pig With No NameHe doesn't have a name, and it's causing problems!

Out of desperation at a recent practice players had to resort to shouting, 'Here piggy, piggy, piggy!'

We would like to invite the children of Bath to help us choose a name. Here's how to help:

Fill out the form below with your suggestion and send it to:

Bath City Pig
Twerton Park
Bath BA2 1DB

or email: pig@bathcityfootballclub.co.uk

An expert panel will judge the best name and invite the child who suggested it to a special naming ceremony at the 18 September match against Darlington.* All entries must be received by 4 September 2010!

*Please note: due to it already being currently in use at Bath City, we will not consider the name 'Hoggy.'

Your first chance to see the Pig in action will be this Saturday when we welcome York City to Twerton Park.

He is unlikely to be match fit yet, so expect to see him mingling with the fans!
