Bayfield Apple Festival button and poster contest now accepting entries

Artists and graphic designers from throughout the region are invited to enter the 2012 Bayfield Apple Festival Button and Poster Design Contest.

Every year, the Bayfield Apple Festival Committee seeks fresh, outstanding designs to feature in commemorative Apple Festival merchandise. This competition brings high honors, as the winning designs become part of an historic memorabilia collection, highly sought after by Apple Festival enthusiasts. Each winning artist also receives regional media coverage and a newly increased cash prize of $250.

The Bayfield Apple Festival Committee is currently accepting entries and designs can be submitted until Sunday, June 17th. This year's theme will be "The 4 seasons in Bayfield." A full explanation of the Button and Poster Contest Guidelines can be downloaded on bayfield.org. Selection of designs will be based on craftsmanship, theme, and reproducibility.

Marking its 51st year, Bayfield's Apple Festival is a celebration of everything apples and the historic local orchards that grow them, set for October 5, 6 & 7, 2012. Located on the shores of Lake Superior, it has been touted by Wisconsin Trails Magazine as Wisconsin's "Best" festival, and listed among the "Top Ten Autumn Festivals in North America" by the Society of American Travel Writers. Visitors will enjoy over 60 orchard and food booths selling Bayfield's apples and apple delicacies, 150 art and craft booths, live entertainment by Big Top Chautauqua's Blue Canvas Orchestra, a family carnival with rides, grand parade with acclaimed 500 member Mass Band playing "On Wisconsin" and more.
