Be First
We have raised $2.1 Million for the Be Project to date! This fall BBDF's generous friends hosted Be First events in 6 cities, Austin, Houston, Dallas, Little Rock, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. The Foundation previewed the Be Project in these cities and taught the groups about BBDF's mission. We officially launched the campaign in our annual report in December.  Thank you to all of our Be First Donors who made a contribution in 2016.
Be the Change
Our kids fundraising initiative was created to engage children in philanthropy. Work with your children or a group of kids to create fundraising opportunities to utilize their own networks: school clubs, sports teams, neighborhood friends, church groups, and community service groups. A Batten Art Project
Lucy Cowden and her mom invited Christiane over for painting, which resulted in a beautiful watercolor they turned into bookmarks and postcards. Lucy mailed letters with a heartfelt request to help fund the treatment for her friend, Christiane. She enclosed the bookmarks and postcards and asked for words of encouragement to be mailed to Christiane. The result was over $4,000 in donations to the foundation and a treasure trove of cards expressing love and support from people whom Christiane had never met. 

Be the Hope
Our faith based initiative is intended to engage churches, bible studies and prayer groups. We are expanding our campaign through prayer. To learn more about how to get involved, contact our chair Kristin Cowden, at [email protected].
Bible Study Gift
Beth Cunningham, Ashley Crider, Jennifer Pickens, Darby Denison (top row), Helen Watkins, Ann Stevens, Diane Humphreys and Karen Greiner (bottom row) belong to a bible study that celebrates together at a holiday luncheon each year. In lieu of a gift exchange, one member of the group designates a charity. This year Diane Humphreys chose BBDF to receive their donations. Thank you for your continued prayers and support.

Family Movie Night
Join BBDF's Youth Leadership Committee Sunday, February 26 for a family movie night at the Blue Starlite Drive In, at their original location at  1901 E. 51st Street, Austin, TX 78723. 

Doors open at 5:30 pm and the movie will start at 6:30 pm.

Calling All Superheroes
Cindy Luu attended the Be First Houston event and was introduced to BBDF's mission. She embraced it with passion and enthusiasm and is spreading our message in Sugar Land, TX. Cindy is hosting the Be a Hero Super Run on Saturday, February 25. You can  Register here. Thank you Cindy and all the Super Friends who will be participating this year.
