Greetings Compassionate Shopper,
We always say that the best way to speak out against animal testing for cosmetics, personal care, and household products is to let your wallet do the talking. Simply put, don't buy products from companies that are not certified cruelty-free. Companies are listening, and as seen in the example of Urban Decay, some even change their minds and do the right thing. Read the full story on their stunning decision below.
What's another thing you can do to help bring awareness to cosmetic testing? Help us win $10,000, that's what! Vote for Leaping Bunny in Alba Botanica's Team Do Beautiful contest on Facebook. Just a few clicks from you could give us a huge boost in our work to educate people about the horrors of product testing and the vast number of cruelty-free options available to consumers. We're in first place so far, so let's keep it that way.
I'll close with a quote about progress from the writer George Bernard Shaw: "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man." To all of you reading this, continue to be unreasonable in your demand that all personal care and household products be free of animal testing. We are making progress indeed!
For the animals,

Vicki Katrinak
Leaping Bunny Administrator
We are working with Alba Botanica to raise money for Leaping Bunny, and we need you on our side to help us win $10,000! Join Team Do Beautiful at Facebook.com/albabotanica. In early June, Leaping Bunny removed the popular color cosmetics company Urban Decay from its list of cruelty-free companies when the company informed us of its plan to begin selling in China, a country that requires animal testing. Responding to an outpouring of extreme disappointment from compassionate consumers, Urban Decay reversed its decision and recommitted to the Leaping Bunny Program's Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals. The company stated that it has no intention of selling products in China until it can do so without the need for animal test data.
"We are very happy with Urban Decay's decision and appreciate that they came through with what we needed for recertification," said Leaping Bunny Chair Sue Leary. "This wouldn't have happened without all the compassionate consumers who protested the company's move into China. Clearly, there is a substantial market segment that makes buying decisions based on a company's position on animal testing. Companies ignore that at their peril."
Thanks to everyone who took the time to voice opposition at the outset. We also commend Urban Decay for doing the right thing. No doubt, the animals who won't become test subjects are certainly thankful for that!
