International Night
For all questions regarding your performance schedule, please contact  Jitka Brejlova

If your student is making a flag to represent your country for International Night,
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO PUT THE NAME OF YOUR COUNTRY ON THE FLAG.
All students can leave their flags at the office in the International Night Box.  If you have any other questions, please contact Ommama Hassan .  

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, March 27th.
 
Volunteers Needed for Setup
Looking for a few volunteers to help us make our first International Night at Redmond Middle School a success!  We need a couple of people for set up and then a couple for clean up.  If you can help sign up sign up HERE.
 
PTSA NEWS
Nominations Are Open
Did you know that every PTA member is eligible to be a board member? Your RMS PTSA nominating committee is currently looking for people interested in being a PTSA leader for the 2018-2019 school year.  Will you have a student at RMS next year? Do you have an hour a week to give in support of  programs that help children to be successful students? Please consider one of the open positions listed below.
  • President - Oversees the board and chair positions, hosts monthly meetings, and communicates with teachers and parents. Commitment of ~1hr/week + monthly meeting(s). 
  • Treasurer - Maintains management of PTA funds and bank accounts. Pays bills, receives and disburses all monies as voted upon by the general membership. Great role for a math geek! Commitment of ~2hrs+/week. 
  • 1st VPAssists in one or more roles working directly with the PTSA President. ~1hr/week.
  • 2nd VPAssists in one or more roles working directly with the PTSA President. ~1hr/week.
  • Secretary - Are you good at taking notes? Love buying office supplies? The Secretary takes official meeting minutes and stores records for the PTSA. <1hr/week.

Not a member but interested in stepping up for students?   Join the PTSA and become eligible.

CELEBRATING RMS
RMS Math Teams qualify for Math Is Cool Masters
70 RMS students from grades 6-8 participated in the Math is Cool Regionals held at Mount Rainier High School on Feb 9, 2018. Over 550 students from 20 schools participated in the most competitive 'i' division at the event.
 
Teams from all three grades did exceptionally well and won team awards as well as individual trophies.

Teams from grades 6-8 have qualified for the Math Is Cool Masters where they will compete with the top 10 teams within WA State.  
We wish the RMS teams all the best at the MIC Masters and we hope that they have an enjoyable time at Moses Lake.
RMS Robotics Team wins in VexIQ State Competition

The RMS Robotics team - Evan Kim, Rakesh Velagapudi, Sidharth Ganesh, Shripad Guntur, Keisuke Maeda - placed 2nd in the Teamwork Challenge and qualified for the World Championships!
 
We are so proud of these students for their hard work, teamwork and overcoming so many unexpected hurdles.  Congrats to the team again!

Bear Tracks Weekly is RMS PTSA's electronic newsletter, sent each Monday to RMS families and staff via e-mail. You DO NOT need to be a PTSA member to subscribe to Bear Tracks, it is FREE to all families and staff in the Redmond Middle School community.
 

Submissions from the school and community should be sent to [email protected] by 5pm on Thursday for publication the following Monday.  Bear Tracks weekly newsletter is edited by Sara Buckley.
