Wire Wrapped Pendant      Wire Wrapped Cab
Now you can create amazing jewelry with your dichroic glass cabochons.
In this workshop, you'll learn how to create a "bundle" with "bindings" and then how to mold
the bundle to fit your cabochon.  Once you create the "cage" that traps the glass, you'll finish the
pendant with a bail and decorative coils and/or added beads as shown in the two examples above.

This class requires the use of four different pairs of jewelry pliers.
(Flat-Nose, Round-Nose, Nylon Jaw and Flush Cutter)
We have them available for purchase. The pliers we carry are good quality,
full-sized tools with box joints and ergonomic grips at a bargain price.
We also offer economy tools for even less!

We will have a variety of cabochons available for purchase.  Most are less than $20 each.
If you have something that you want to wrap, bring it to class - teardrops and
ovals are the best shapes for learning.

Botanical Burnout1
Bring on the botanicals!  You can go into your own yard or a neighbor's.
You can visit the grocery store or florist for leather-leaf fern.  You can even
bring something that you picked on the side of the road!  We'll teach you how
to get those leaves to fuse perfectly into your glass so that you'll
have beautiful, realistic leaves in your bowl.  We've even seen this done with
flowers so if you have some simple flowers like daisies, bring those too.
If your botanicals aren't flat, press them under something heavy for a few days
before class.  Dried and flattened plants work best.

In addition to making an Organic Burnout Bowl, you'll also learn how to use the
Morton Portable Glass Shop to cut exact squares and rectangles and how to use
one of Harmony's variety of circle cutters for perfect circles.

Beginning Stained Glass
Stained Glass has been a cherished art form for more than 1000 years.
Prior to the invention of tools that make it easy for modern artisans, apprentices
trained under proficient craftsmen to learn the trade.

In the 21st century, up-to-date tools make it easy to learn the rewarding craft of
stained glass.  During this hands-on class, you will learn all the skills necessary to
complete a stained glass panel using the copper foil technique that was developed by
Louis Comfort Tiffany.  Each student will complete a  9" x 14" panel, including framing
with a rigid metal border.  Every class session is filled with fun as you learn to
select glass, cut & fit, foil, solder, frame and polish your artwork.  We don't have to
teach you to admire it and beam with pride, that comes naturally!

Please visit harmony prior to class to pick and prepare your pattern.

(Fun with Mosaic Fur-damento)

Saturday & Sunday, September 30 & October 1
9:00 am - 4:00 pm each day
Tuition of $350 includes all materials

Learn to create amazing, adorable and accurate representations of your favorite fur-babies in this two-day mosaic workshop!

For a lot of us, pets play an important and significant role in our lives.  Many of us have been lucky enough to have a special pet in our lives and sadly, we've also experienced the sorrow of losing a beloved pet.  Without a doubt, the relationship with your pet is a one-of-a-kind bond, unlike any other.  Creating a portrait of your pet honors that connection.

This two-day workshop is designed for students with some previous experience.  Students should be familiar with glass cutting and mosaic nipping tools.

You will create an 8" x 10"  portrait of your pet using stained glass while learning the basic principles of mosaic.  Further, you will also learn about tesserae size and shape and how it relates to your mosaic andamento, color value and shading.

Roxana Nizza is an extremely accomplished mosaic artist and teacher.  She has a thriving career creating high-end custom residential mosaic installations and has taught many classes in all aspects of glass mosaics.  Join us for this unique and creative learning experience!

Pines at Sunset by Paul Messink
Pines at Sunset by Paul Messink

Harmony is proud to offer another opportunity to learn from an internationally-acclaimed
visiting artist.  Paul Messink is coming to Harmony to teach his glass painting and fusing techniques, combining traditional Reusche with modern vibrant enamels.  Using clear glass, Paul paints layers so that genuine
depth is achieved.

Paul uses these skills to create unique compositions in multi-layered glass  panels that present nature in deep dimension.

In his own words,  "My goal is to draw the viewer into the work of art,
transforming a painting (an historically 2D art form) into something more.
My outdoor subjects often recede into a foggy distance, creating an
ethereal, almost ghostly effect.

Each student will make at least four and up to six projects in class.  The dimensional projects will be six layers thick to create depth.  Paul will teach layering,
diminishing size and color, texture, and translucence.
