2012 Seven of Hearts Chateaux Figareaux Tradition
Columbia Valley, Washington

Regularly $22.99, Special Price $16.99

Now, I'm not one for hokey labels with cute animals and pretty, non-essential decorations on the label but if the wine is good than I can't really say much. This week's wine has flare, with respect to the label, but what's in the bottle is impressive.

Seven of Hearts' Tradition is an enticing blend of the three most popular Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Upon first sip you'll see that there is nothing hokey about this amazing blend from Washington state. It  offers something for everybody with the Cabernet Sauvignon providing structure to support tart red currant fruit, the Merlot adding a lush mouthfeel and black plum richness and, finally, the Cabernet Franc rounding out the blend lending crushed flowers and a savory quality to the wine. This could be the perfect wine pairing for that special Valentine's Day dinner.
L'Edel de Cleron, French Alps - $14.99 each

This is a surface ripened cow's milk cheese made by Jean Perrin (of l'Edel de Cleron fame) in the Comte region of France. Unlike some other great mountain cheeses these cheeses are made from autumn and winter milk from cows that graze on cold-weather vegetation. Clarines is a half white mould, half washed rind cow's milk cheese. It has gentle earthy buttery flavors with a rich creamy and smooth texture.

This cheese will perfectly accompany the Seven of Hearts Chateaux Figareaux Tradition by providing a sweet lactic balance to the tart red currant notes found in this wine.
