Dear Neighbors

Tomorrow is the dedication of a tile history wall at Beaver Creek School that has been worked on by students and staff at the school and from Camp Verde High School, too. The event, sponsored by the Beaver Creek Preservation & Historical Society starts at 2 PM on campus.

Also, all day on Friday, is free shredding sponsored by Gateway Mall and AARP in Prescott.  This is out of our area.  But if you have the need to shred, the price is right.

Free slash drop offs continue through June 1 at the Yavapai County Transfer Stations.  Providing a fire safe zone around your residence is recommended by our Fire Chief who also states,  " Copper Canyon Fire and Medical Authority has implemented a fire ban within its jurisdiction. This ban is going in effect in cooperation with other bans being implemented by Yavapai County, the Prescott National Forest, the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest, as well as the other fire departments and fire districts across the Verde Valley.  This ban impacts all open burning within the district, including burn barrels, with or without burn permits."  (See flyers below)

Friday, 4/17--The Beaver Creek Community Timeline dedication starts at 2 PM at Beaver Creek Rock School located at 4810 E Beaver Creek Rd in Rimrock.  Beaver Creek School Superintendent Karin Ward's vision of the community's history being depicted via picture tiles has become a reality. Beaver Creek Preservation & Historical Society Timeline Committee Chairman Betty Hart enlisted the help of Beaver Creek School students and staff and Tom Middlebrook and Camp Verde High School art students to "tell the story" of the Beaver Creek area. Following the ceremony, refreshments will be served.  (See flyer below)
 
Friday, 4/17--AARP FREE Shred-a-Thon runs from 9 to 11:30 AM and 12:30 to 2 PM at the Prescott Gateway Mall until the truck reaches capacity.  (See flyer below)

Continues through 6/1--Yavapai County FREE Slash Drop Off  at the Camp Verde Transfer Station from 8 AM to 4 PM, Tuesdays through Saturdays.  Acceptable items are brush, branches, grass, leaves, and yard trimmings.  No lumber, stumps, roots, cactus, metal, or garbage.  Slash must be removed from plastic bags.  Located 7 miles east of I-17 on Hwy 260.  For additional information, please contact the Yavapai County Public Works Dept at 928-771-3183. The other transfer stations are open different days and times.  If you use one of the others, please call first to verify days and times available for drop-off.  (See flyer below)

As a result of the critical fire conditions we are currently experiencing, effective Friday, April 20th 2018 at 08:00 hours, Copper Canyon Fire and Medical Authority will implement a fire ban within its jurisdiction.
 
This ban is going in effect in cooperation with other bans being implemented by Yavapai County, the Prescott National Forest, the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest, as well as the other fire departments and fire districts across the Verde Valley.
 
This ban impacts all open burning within the district, including burn barrels, with or without burn permits.
 
Enclosed BBQs (propane and briquette- with a lid) are not effected by this ban at this time, although the public is always encouraged to be especially careful when using cooking appliances outdoors, and especially when the conditions are as dry as we are currently experiencing.
 
The public is also encouraged to be very careful with the disposal of smoking materials during this period.
 
If conditions continue to worsen, additional restrictions may well be implemented to prevent a catastrophic fire.  Such measure might include the banning of smoking outdoors, bans on the use of briquettes and/or BBQs, bans on the use of chain saws or other combustible engines/tools that might produce sparks, bans on welding or grinding without special permits or standby measures, and/or bans on other hazardous  processes.
 
The current ban or additional restrictions will remain in effect until we see significant summer rains to lessen the threat.
 
With our current dry conditions, low humidity, warmer temperatures and gusty winds, everyone is being encouraged to  be extremely careful during this period.
