Beaver Creek eNews

October 3, 2017

Dear Neighbors

The calendar crew saw its first goose flyby on September 18.  Now honking geese formations are flying overhead frequently.  Days are warm and nights are cool.  Fall is officially here in Beaver Creek!  October is the best month of the year in many ways, including that the surprising Diamondbacks have homefield advantage in a playoff game scheduled for Wednesday evening.  GOOOO D'BACKSSS  (Tari, in photo, wants to shop for a Diamondbacks cap.)

This week the Drumming Circle meets again at the BC Adult Center and a special Financial Peace class starts meeting at the BC Baptist Church, both on Wednesday.  Friday afternoon in Sycamore Park is the last Farmer's Market of the season.  Come say good bye for now to our local growers, bakers and artists.

On Friday and Saturday is the annual Rummage Sale in the BC Adult Center.  Also on Saturday is the Grace Lutheran Community Church's Free Octoberfest in Rollins Park.  Don't forget that Cricket's Restaurant is open at the same time.  You might have breakfast at Cricket's, bargain shop at the Adult Center and then have a brat or two at the Octoberfest.  Also Saturday morning, the bird walks on the first and third Saturdays begin at Montezuma Well and continue through April.
Last year Nurse Cherry gave Supervisor Thurman a flu shot in the Adult Center

The following Wednesday is a perfect time to get a free flu shot at either the Montezuma Rimrock Fire Station or at the Beaver Creek Adult Center.  It's also the day to take a guided hike on the new Wickiup Mesa Trail System with Susan Sim.  On Saturday Oct 14, the monthly free food distribution is at Beaver Creek School.  Don't miss out on this benefit to our community!

During the last week of this month on Oct 28, the Montezuma Rimrock Fire Auxiliary will be hosting an event and giving away free hot dogs to thank the community for its support.  The Halloween Spooktacular will of course be held in Rollins Park on Halloween.  As always, we need lots of adults to drive into the Lake Montezuma Village Square, park, and hand out candy, apples, and trinkets, etc.  Please call or text 301-2749 to volunteer.

Late breaking and not yet on the calendar, the Beaver Creek Community Association will be hosting administrators from the Arizona Water Company at 6 PM on Oct 23 in the BC Adult Center.  AZ Water Company will present information about the local water system and take questions and suggestions from the audience.

Yavapai County Public Works is in the process of doing an overlay on Montezuma Lake Rd (from the Y to the bridge) as part of the Eastern Overlay Project.  Please plan a little extra time in your schedule to drive this area during construction.

See you in the neighborhood,
