Dear Neighbors
Today the Beaver Creek School Governing Board meets to approve the FY 18 Budget and has other interesting agenda items. On the 22nd the Fire Boards meet in Camp Verde to adopt the FY 18 Budgets for our fire districts. If you have any questions, now is the time to ask.
Tuesday brings us another Taco Tuesday sponsored by the MR Fire Auxiliary at the Montezuma Rimrock Fire Station. Proceeds will benefit our fire fighters and fire safety. On Wednesday, BC Kiwanis is holding its final Fourth of July meeting. (This is a change since the fire district is holding a special meeting on Tuesday.)
Our library is very busy with the summer reading program on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 PM. This is attended by a large group of children. When you visit, maybe best at other times, don't miss the local artwork on display.
The Rimrock Farmer's Market kicked off to a good start last Friday and continues every Friday afternoon through the beginning of October. Gerry Quotskuyva, Market Director, reports, "
I would like to thank the communities of Lake Montezuma, Beaver Creek, and Rimrock for supporting our opening of the Second Annual Rimrock Farmer's Market over the weekend. While our selection of vegetables was somewhat limited, there will be more as the summer crops mature. Sunnyside Farms will be back as soon as their crops start producing as well as our newest members to the community, Ryan and Glendalize, who have started a literal micro farm on the creek. While they will be joining us in the near future, I do have a limited selection of produce available from the Yavapai Apache farms (who also practice organic farming techniques), so come early for the best selection. For more information, check out our Rimrock Farmer's Market Facebook page.

Looking forward to tacos,

The Phantasm book club pick we will discuss at the July 15th meeting is "The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman. Written in the 1970s this book won TWO awards and is credited as being the science fiction book which changed the face of modern science fiction. Some of the questions the story raises are: how can humanity evolve in thousands of years, what it means to be human, what would a war that took place all over the universe be like, what would it be like to be an "old" human thrust into a "new" human world, what are the effects of time travel, what does it take to survive?
