Beaver Creek eNews

July 9, 2018

Dear Neighbors
Grand Marshal Verna Shafer & BC Kiwanis President Peter Jensen

What a wonderful 4th of July we had and now the monsoons are beginning!  We're all sure hoping for some good rains and more water in the creek.  However, the ducks did make it through the channel that is still running.  Thank you to the businesses, organizations and individuals who donated more than $7000 worth of prizes this year.  The prize winners are being called today, so the prize list will be published during this week.  Thank you to all who celebrated in Rollins Park and made it the best get together to date.  Please don't miss Bill Helm's photo gallery "2018 Beaver Creek Independence Day Celebration".  He captured the enjoyment of the event.   https://www.cvbugle.com/photos/galleries/2018/jul/05/2018-beaver-creek-independence-day-celeb/
And Sunshower Rose has posted a tribute to Friends of Beaver Creek Library at the celebration on youtube:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs2y_29zW2c&feature=youtu.be

Local availability of food is a theme of this week.  In addition to the second Saturday of the month Free Food Distribution at Beaver Creek School, the Rimrock Farmers Market starts Wednesday evening at the Verde Valley Honey store on Beaver Creek Rd.  Candy Hammond, RRF Director, gave us a taste of what's to come by providing 195 servings of watermelon at the Beaver Creek 4th of July Celebration and had that colorful and creative parade entry.

And continuing about local creativity and ingenuity, two more authors have books available on Amazon.  Both authors have been long time residents and volunteers in the community.  Carol Rotta now lives in a senior complex in Prescott.  Her book is about her early years homesteading in Alaska.  Carol Penfield's new offering is a sequel entitled Lucina's Destiny which follows Midwife of Normandy and continues the historical saga of the Dupres family in the 17th century.
