Dear Neighbors
We're about to finish the first week in September and are still fortunate enough to be seeing some amazing lightning and thunder shows for 45 minutes or more in the evenings. Better than TV! The USGS rain gage near Rimrock took in 3.1 inches of rain in August, however quite a few of us in the Beaver Creek vicinity measured at least .5 more. The weeds are sooo happy.
Today is the first session of a new activity, the Wapiti Drumming Circle. The sponsors invite everyone to come see what it's about and try something new. The Beaver Creek Preservation and Historical Society is celebrating its fifth-year anniversary with an enactment from VANISHED ARIZONA and refreshments on Friday. Saturday evening the Adult Center is sponsoring a pot luck. All these events are at the Beaver Creek Adult Center.
Friday evening the Rimrock Farmer's Market is held at Sycamore Park. Saturday morning free food is available to the public at Beaver Creek School. Also on Saturday, all day, is the Flea Market at the Honey Hole on Beaver Creek Rd.
Several clubs have their first meetings of the year next week. The Rimrockers meet on Monday at Grace Community Lutheran Church and the Lake Montezuma Women's Civic Club meets in the same place on Tuesday. The BC Community Association, the BC Kiwanis, and the Beaver Creek School Governing Board also meet next week.
Upcoming on the 14th is the annual Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner at the fire station and on the 21st is the Clark Telescope Presentation in the Beaver Creek School Multitorium. The Verde Valley Human Society is looking for a few volunteers to spend a couple of hours a week to help socialized some scared cats and kittens. September Special Events
Wednesday, 9/6-The Wapiti Drumming Circle
has its initial gathering at 5:30 PM in the Beaver Creek Adult Center, 4250 E Zuni Way in the Lake Montezuma Village Square directly across from Cricket's Restaurant.
The intention of the Wapiti Drumming Circle is to gather like-minded individuals interested in group, rhythmic drumming of various Native American beats associated with animal totems and the seven energy centers of the human body. The circle will include an initial sage smudge, blessing of drums with tobacco, and an opening, centering prayer. Following the beating of the seven directions there will be a brief gratitude meditation. The evening's drumming will conclude by drumming west, north, east, south, sky and earth. (See flyer below)
 Saturday, 9/9-The 2nd Saturday Flea Market
is at the Honey Hole, 3100 E Beaver Creek Rd, from 9 AM to 3 PM. All are welcome (art, crafts, veggies, antiques, etc) with covered spaces available or your own popup shade. Call 928-592-9383 to reserve or just show up Saturday at 8:30 AM. 10% of sales goes to the host.
Saturday, 9/9-The Beaver Creek Adult Center
is hosting a potluck dinner starting at 5 PM.

Tuesday, 9/12-The Public Meeting about an annual pass increase is from 4 PM to 6 PM at Montezuma Castle.
Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments will hold two public meetings in September to discuss a proposed fee increase to their park specific annual pass. The current park pass has been in place since 2015, but does not meet agency fee standards. The proposed fee increase would make the pass $40.00 instead of the current price of $30.00. The purchase of the park specific pass provides entrance for four adults, for both monuments. Children 15 years old and under are admitted for free.

Thursday, 9/14--The Kiwanis Donation Spaghetti Dinner
will be served from 5 to 7 PM at the Montezuma Rimrock Fire Station, 3240 E Beaver Creek Rd in Rimrock. Please come enjoy spending time with your neighbors and meeting some new folks, too. The proceeds will benefit community projects in the MR Fire District. Event staff includes: Beaver Creek Kiwanis, Montezuma Rimrock Fire Station Personnel, Beaver Creek School K-Kids and Builders Clubs, our High School Key Club (Mingus, Sedona Sky & Camp Verde), as well as many of our friends. Thursday, 9/21--The Clark Telescope Program

Friday, 9/8--The BC Preservation & Historical Society
meets at 9 AM in the Beaver Creek Adult Center. This is a special one -- you won't wanto miss it. Don and Chris Goddard will be doing their reenactment of Martha and Jack Summerhayes from the book
Vanished Arizona (

Saturday, 9/9--Free food is available at Beaver Creek School
from 7:45 to 9 AM. Food is always available the second Saturday of each month for distribution to everyone and during the month as needed. Emergency boxes are available by calling the school at 928-567-4631.
Saturdays, All-The Historic Beaver Creek Rock School Building
is open to the public from 10 AM to 1 PM. Docents from the Beaver Creek Preservation & Historical Society will be on hand to answer questions.
Monday, 9/11-The Rimrockers

Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments will hold public meetings to discuss Fee Increase for Park Specific Annual Pass
Camp Verde and Clarkdale, AZ - Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments will hold two public meetings in September to discuss a proposed fee increase to their park specific annual pass. The current park pass has been in place since 2015, but does not meet agency fee standards. The proposed fee increase would make the pass $40.00 instead of the current price of $30.00. The purchase of the park specific pass provides entrance for four adults, for both monuments. Children 15 years old and under are admitted for free.
Part of the fee money collected at Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments has been used on site to upgrade the electrical system, to stabilize and reinforce the bookstore floor at the Montezuma Castle Visitor Center and to make the Tuzigoot Visitor Center restrooms ADA compliant. The interpretive signs along the monuments' trails were also modernized using fee money. Future plans include building a ranger talk area at Tuzigoot with a shade shelter to provide greater comfort for our visitors.
The first meeting will be held at the Montezuma Castle Visitor Center located at 2800 Montezuma Castle Road in Camp Verde on Tuesday, September 12, from 4pm to 6pm. The second meeting will be held at Tuzigoot Visitor Center located at 25 W. Tuzigoot Road in Clarkdale on Wednesday, September 13, from 4pm to 6pm.
Following the public meetings,feedback will determine if the fee increase will be implemented.
