October 3, 2015

Dear Neighbors
Welcome to October 2015!  It's breezy, gently warm and the leaves are starting to fall.  The best month of the year is here and there are many planned activities to look forward to.  But first,
Pasta Crew at MRFD
September ended with the traditional Kiwanis Donation Dinner at the Montezuma Rimrock Fire Station and the Hot Night for Firefighters, a first time event in Camp Verde that combined the efforts of the MR and CV Fire Auxiliaries.  POBs (Pats on Back) to the volunteers who made these evenings possible and everyone who attended which made the events warm community gatherings.  Thank you!

At the request of LMPOA, Fire Chief Terry Keller and Captain Carlos Paisano and his crew did a practice run using the new pedestrian/emergency bridge on Montezuma Ave.  As you can see the posts were quickly removed and the ambulance easily crossed from Lake Montezuma to Rimrock.

Today, Saturday, has a full schedule of activities.  Please don't miss the last day of the BC Adult Center rummage sale, the first Octoberfest/Car Show at Rollins Park, and the star gazing on the CV High School football field.  On Monday Supervisor Thurman will visit at the Adult Center to present pros and cons of incorporation and answer questions.  On Friday, 10/9, Yavapai County Health Department will provide free flu shots at the BC Adult Center.

Last Wednesday was the opening day for Montezuma Family Dental located in the Lake Montezuma Village Square in the MRM Health Services Building.  Dr Ryan Carter and his office manager, Ashley Hammond, welcomed new patients and are available to meet with you and answer your questions.  Inside and out the building has been repainted and is ready for a fresh start.

For the month of October the Verde Valley Humane Society in Cottonwood is offering discounts on adoptions for 30+day shelter residents.  See their flyer below.  The shelter is also looking for foster homes from a week or two to several months.  Fostering is needed for animals too young to be adopted, recovering from a medical condition, long-term residents who need a break and senior animals suffering from depression.  If you'd like more information, please call or email Angie Hare at 928-634-7387 or [email protected]

Later in the month is the free food distribution at Beaver Creek School, the week long Feast of the Tabernacles at BC Baptist Church, and the Verde River Valley presentation in the school board room.  Of course the month ends with the Halloween Spooktacular in Rollins Park.  Volunteers are needed to assist with the event, provide a Trunk 'n Treat Vehicle, sponsor a game or donate candy.  If you'd like to do or ask about any of these, please call Janet at 928-592-2839 or see Grace at Cricket's.

Just a reminder that LMPOA board member Sharon Olsen does a great job of posting a copy of the eNews on both their kiosk in Rollins Park and bulletin board at the Rimrock Resale Shop.  The electronic (online) calendar has more information about locations and contacts.  Just click on the event or meeting.
                              Have a wonderful October,
