Dear Neighbors
This fine morning we have a chance to hear about the history and current operations of Sedona Sky School (formerly Copper Canyon Academy) at 9 AM in the Beaver Creek Adult Center Library.  Early Saturday morning free food is available at Beaver Creek School for anyone who would like to use it to help with their budgets.  Free Slash drop off continues through August at any of the Yavapai County Refuse Stations.  It's an economical way to get rid of some of that monsoon weed growth.  And don't miss the Rimrock Farmers Market every Saturday morning at Sycamore Park.  More information on these events is below.

Please note that County Supervisor Tom Thurman's community visit to our area has been postponed until September, date is pending.

Upcoming Special Events in August
 
Continued thru 8/31--Free slash drop off at the Camp Verde Transfer Station from 8 AM to 4 PM, Tuesday through Saturdays. Acceptable items are brush, branches, grass, leaves, and yard trimmings. No lumber, stumps, roots, cactus, metal, or garbage. Slash must be removed from plastic bags. Located 7 miles east of I-17 on Hwy 260. Saturdays thru 10/8-The Rimrock Farmers Market offers fresh produce, baked goods, plants, etc from 8 AM to Noon every Saturday morning at Sycamore Park next to the bridge on Montezuma Ave.  Register for a drawing in October for a free dinner for 2 at RR BBQ.  Tables or booths are available for additional producers.  Please call Gerry Quotskuyva at 928-300-2206 for more information.
 
POSTPONED until September TBA--Yavapai County District 2 Supervisor is presenting a community meeting at 10 AM in the Beaver Creek Adult Center located in the Lake Montezuma Village Square.  Supervisor Thurman, Public Works Director Byron Jaspers, and Road Superintendent Verl Cook will discuss the road 5-year plan.
 
Thursday-Sunday, 8/25-8/28-Fee FREE Weekend for National Parks and Monuments.   National Park Service units throughout the country will waive entry fees on these dates in celebration of the National Park Service turning 100.

Friday, 8/12 --The BC Preservation & Historical Society   meets at 9:00 AM in the BC Adult Center Library. This month's presenter will be Rod Adams, Executive Director of Sedona Sky (previously Copper Canyon Academy). He will speak about the history of the school as well as the school itself.

Saturday, 8/13--Free food is available at Beaver Creek School   from 7:45 to 9 AM.  Food is always available the second Saturday of each month for distribution to everyone and during the month as needed.  Emergency boxes are available as needed by calling the school at 928-567-4631.

Tuesday, 8/16--The Beaver Creek Trails Coalition Board will meet at 8:30 AM in the BC Adult Center.  Please contact [email protected]  or further information. 

Wednesdays, 8/17 -A NACOG Case Manager will be at the Camp Verde Senior Center, 263 Maryvale Dr, the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 9 AM to 3 PM.   Assistance will be provided to low income individuals and families in need of immediate assistance.  Please call 928-300-0894 for a pre-screening over the phone prior to meeting.

Thursday, 8/18--The Friends of Beaver Creek Library board will meet at 2:30 PM at the Beaver Creek School conference room. All members and interested parties are invited to attend.  Contact Judy McBride at 928-567-4648 for more information. 

Saturday, 8/20--The Men's Breakfast  at the Beaver Creek Baptist Church welcomes new friends and old at 8 AM.  Please call Pastor Miller at 928-567-4557 for further information.

Saturday, 8/20--The Lutheran Womens Missionary League meets at 10 AM at Grace Lutheran Community Church.  The function of this church auxiliary is to help members of the community.  Please call 928-567-4608 for further information.
 
Saturday, 8/20-The Bibliomaniacs meet at the BC Library located at BC School.  Contact Barb Hitchcock at [email protected] for more information. Everyone is invited to attend whether or not having read the book.  (See flyer below)
