Directors, members, and trail enthusiasts:
Our first Rimrock Trails construction day was a roaring success! This note is to celebrate our accomplishment, and to call on our community for the next step.
Last Thursday, more than 15 community members turned out, breaking into groups to:
a. Install a new gate and sign at the entrance to the Cedar Knoll trail,
b. Establish tread and trim vegetation along 0.6 miles of the Cedar Knoll trail
c. Obliterate and stabilize 0.2 miles of eroding "fall line" trail,
d. Built a gabion and placed signage at the Golden Gulch head-cut trail junction.
Please enjoy several photographs from last Thursday's event. Also included is a DRAFT trail map to help everyone get oriented.
Our next trail construction workdays will be this coming weekend: February 25 and 26. Please meet at the Forest Glen Trailhead at 9 AM. Our plan will be to:
a. Establish the trail tread from the Golden Gulch jct. to the Montezuma Well Overlook (1.2 miles)
b. Install a gate at a fence crossing point on the Montezuma Well Overlook trail,
c. Install a gate and signage at the Mallard community access point,
d. Establish tread and trim vegetation along 0.3 miles of the Mallard trail,
e. Install additional signage near the Golden Gulch jct.
It's an ambitious work plan; let's see how much of it we can accomplish.
