Robyn performing a fire puja with the help of teacher Paula Chichester and student Mike Mordis Milarepa Center, August 2015 |
My name is Robyn and my husband Bill and I have been coming to Milarepa Center since the 80's.
On August 20th, 2015, I was pleased to utilize Milarepa Center's facilities to perform my fire puja.
Paula Chichester, who had previously done a great four-year retreat at Milarepa Center, guided me in the proceedings including the creation of a sand mandala that served as the basis for the purifying fire.
Former Board Members and Directors Larry Howe and Martha Tack cleared the fire pit. Larry gathered "durva" grass for one of the puja offerings. Paula and Milarepa's Spiritual Program Coordinator, Kiira Anderson, made tormas for the fire puja. My husband, Bill Kelly, prepared the puja site and offerings plus he assisted with the puja activities.
The ceremony all came together... because of the extraordinary people you meet at Milarepa Center.
In 1975, I first met Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche when I attended the 8th Kopan Course where I took refuge. This experience completely changed my life. It inspired me to do whatever I could to help preserve the extraordinary Tibetan Buddha-dharma, which the Lamas were so compassionately imparting to their students.
I served on the Milarepa Board of Directors early in its history, attended numerous events at Milarepa over the years and continue to value the Center as a blessed and peaceful resource for practitioners and the general public seeking wisdom and meditative experience in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.
