The Friends Now Sponsors Saint Francis' Valet Services
In an ongoing effort to improve the overall patient experience, The Friends of Saint Francis is donating funds to make Saint Francis Healthcare System Valet Services more beneficial to patients and visitors. This service began in July 2015, and requires $250,000 annually. Valet Services is sponsored by The Friends and supported by Saint Francis Healthcare System Foundation.
"Valet parking is more than just parking cars for patients," said Pam Kimbel, a Valet Parking Attendant. "We love our patients, give them a smile, encourage them and help them. We keep tabs on the progress of those coming in for therapy and sometimes have to help people cope with a bad diagnosis."
Money that will be raised from the 29th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson August 19 will be a major fundraising effort toward valet services, as our Benefit Golf Tournament last year raised nearly $200,000.
Saint Francis patients and visitors took advantage of valet parking more than 34,000 times from July 2015 to June 2016. More than 3,500 cars utilized Valet Services at the Cancer Institute entrance since last July. For a cancer patient, providing this service means a lot when visiting the Medical Center. Valet Services is more than just yellow shirts parking a patient's car.
"Those yellow shirts are worn by angels," said Jim Crain, who brought his wife battling cancer to the hospital nearly every day for over a year. "I needed help with my wife and the valet service offered at Saint Francis Medical Center was right there every time. What seems like such a minor thing makes such a major difference and allowed me to never leave my wife's side."
Valet parking is available Monday through Friday, and located at these four Medical Center entrances:
- Healing Arts (Entrance 2), 8 am-4 pm
- Registration Center (Entrance 4), 7 am-4:30 pm
- Cancer Institute (Entrance 6), 8 am-4 pm
- Health & Wellness Center (Entrance 8), 8 am-4:30 pm
All valet locations are closed on holidays.

2017 Gala Save the Date
SAVE THE DATE! Come for a good cause, stay for a great night!
Come for a great night - and an even better cause! The second Friends Gala is on the books for Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Isle Casino Event Center in Cape Girardeau. The event will feature:
- Live entertainment and dancing
- A delicious plated dinner and open bar
- A fabulous live auction and other fun activities
All proceeds from the gala will directly benefit Saint Francis Healthcare System's CancerCare and CardiacCare patient funds.
- The CancerCare fund helps cancer patients in financial need with essential services and supplies they cannot afford such as nutritional supplements, medicine, transportation, lodging and more.
- The CardiacCare fund assists Heart Hospital patients with cardiac rehabilitation, other necessary services and equipment they otherwise could not afford.

Annual Benefit Golf Tournament
Don't FOREget to sign up! Tee times are filling up fast!
 The 29th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament is fast approaching. The tournament is set for Friday, August 19, at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson and will feature two tee times. Both rounds will feature 18 holes of great golf, plus golf apparel, beverages, treats and other fun surprises. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded for each of the three flights, in addition to hole-competition prizes.
This year's tournament proceeds support Saint Francis free valet parking, which helps those who may have difficulty walking to a Medical Center entrance.

Every Wednesday in July, we are spicing up our support of Saint Francis by partnering with Buffalo Wild Wings! A portion of all dining proceeds at four area locations for the month will directly benefit Saint Francis patients and their families. Wednesday hours at all locations are 10:30 am-midnight.
