Dear Tahoe-Truckee Nordic Community,
I would like to thank the TXC Board of Directors for giving me this opportunity and to many of you for your encouragement and support.
I have been cross-country skiing since I was a youngster in my home state of Idaho, skiing nearly every day after school in the potato fields near my house (true story). I cross-country ski raced in college, pursued a post-graduate ski-racing career, and in 2005, began coaching full time. I have coached domestically and internationally, from youth to World Cup athletes, and Master skiers as well. Until a few years ago, my main focus was coaching the Auburn Ski Club Juniors in year-round training so that they may represent the Far West Nordic Division at USSA Junior Nationals. After 18 years of coaching and instructing, I spent the past 4 years as the Nordic Specialist/Buyer and Assistant Manager at Alpenglow Sports in Tahoe City.
For almost two decades, I have shared my passion for cross-country skiing with athletes and enthusiasts, and I believe that experience encompasses skills that complement what's needed in management. My ability to multi-task, to mentor, to organize, and to be diplomatic, all while still having fun, are characteristics well suited for being the Executive Director of TXC.
I am excited to be given this opportunity to lead TXC into the future. It is my vision to enhance the current qualities of TXC -- the top-notch grooming, the professional coaches and instructors, a supportive and caring staff, the cookies!, and its relaxed atmosphere -- every day, in every way. But I cannot do it without your help and support. Together we can shape TXC into a world-class, year-round, community asset.
I look forward to making a difference in this endeavor and to continue the fantastic legacy TXC has created.
Pray for snow and then, let's go skiing...
