Updates from the BFCCPS Health Office:

Our annual Postural Screening Program will begin in March for students in grades 5-8. The purpose of this screening program is to detect early signs of possible posture problems in children. This is not a diagnostic service, but helps identify students who should have further medical evaluation.

The screening is conducted in a manner that is respectful of each child's modesty/privacy.
For more details on the program, please click HERE . If you have any questions or concerns, you are always welcome to email the BFCCPS Health Office or call (508) 528-1945.

The Health Office will also conduct state-mandated height and weight screening for students in grades 1,4, and 7 in early March.  We will conduct this screening in a manner that ensures privacy for each student.  We record each child's screening results in their confidential individual health record.  We do not send home the results of each child's screening, though you are welcome to request them from the Health Office at any time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please remember to keep your child home from school if (s)he has a fever greater than 100.0 within the last 24 hours, or has vomited within the last 24 hours.  If your child is diagnosed with influenza or strep throat, please let the Health Office know.

Hand-washing is an excellent way to help prevent spreading germs and getting sick.  For visual confirmation that hand-washing works, check out these petri dishes you will notice how many fewer germs grew from the washed hands!
