Ben's Buzz

Dear BFCCPS Community,

If you haven't already had a chance to review the Ben's Buzz regarding School Calendars, I hope you will please take a moment to take a look. You'll find information about new dates for the last day of Kindergarten and the Grade 8 Graduation; you'll also find the 2018-2019 School Year Calendar.

I am thrilled to invite you all to attend an Community Kickoff for the BFCCPS Expansion on April 7th.   Families will get a more thorough update on the expansion, have a opportunity to view the layout for the new facility, and learn more about the BFEF. I hope to see you there! If you missed the most recent Expansion Update, you can find it here.

The  BFCCPS Parent Community Organization   Family Social and Raffle  will take place this  Friday, March 23rd at Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School.  This event is the single largest fundraiser of the year.  As active members of the BFCCPS Community, we hope you will each take a look at the volunteer needs and let the PCO know where you can help. Parent Volunteer and Middle School Helper Signups are located below in the PCO section of the newsletter.

Have a great rest of the week,

Summer Courses

The Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter Public School is pleased to announce the 2018 Summer Course Offerings! This years classes are offered by BFCCPS faculty and staff members and Susie Pallis from  Drama Kids.

The classes are divided by grade level and cover a multitude of topics across a variety of content areas. Classes will be held at BFCCPS' main building as well as the Red Brick School. A class description, date and time is listed for each class. With the exception of private music lessons and tutoring, courses are $100 per week for a half day session and full day classes are $200.

BFCCPS Also offers Summer Instrumental Lessons! The success of our band program relies on students taking instrumental lessons during the summer vacation to continue their personal growth and retention of instrumental musical skills achieved during the school year. This is also the perfect time for students to get one-on-one help with their Wind Ensemble or Symphonic Band auditions, which occur the first week of school in the fall.

This year's Spring Social: basket raffle is this Friday March 23rd .
The PCO needs volunteers to go for the gold.  Most v olunteer time slots are only 30 minutes and there are so many ways to help.  Click here for more details .

The PCO is also in need of student volunteers to run game stations.  For each 30 minute volunteer sessions, students will earn one ticket to be used for a dedicated raffle prize, consisting of a selection of teen friendly gift cards.  Student volunteer signup is here

Any completed form should be sent in to the Health Office.

Parking & Parking Lot Safety: Parking is not allowed in marked reserved spots near the schools main entrance. These spots are reserved for the CCD program staff.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures:  Please adhere to the posted arrival and dismissal procedures which are posted  here our website.

Over the winter months, we ask that you do not park on Queen Street to walk in and pick up your children. The Queen Street entrance can be narrow at this time of year due to accumulated snow and or ice making this practice potentially unsafe for both drivers and walkers.  We ask that you please utilize the Express Lane procedures or arrive at Courtyard Dismissal (approximately 3:20) to secure a spot to park in the lot once the general traffic has cleared.

Absence and Dismissal Notification: If your child will be absent or tardy from school, Please contact Mrs. Tappin at  ltappin@bfccps.org or at  leave a voice message at the absent and tardy line 508-541-3434 and press 4.  Additionally, if you have to make any dismissal changes please email both your child(ren)'s homeroom teacher AND Mrs. Laura Tappin by email at  ltappin@bfccps.org by no later than 2 pm.

As a reminder, BFCCPS has an  extended absence policy which indicates that extended absences for non-medical reasons for more than 10 consecutive school days will not be approved and will result in dis-enrollment from BFCCPS unless caused by exceptional and unavoidable circumstances, such as a natural disaster, serious accident, or other situation deemed exceptional and unavoidable by the HOS.

Cold weather has arrived!  Please be sure to send your students daily with seasonally appropriateouterwear. We will continue to have outdoor courtyard, recess and dismissal whenever possible.
