We had such a great time welcoming everyone back and kicking off the 2017-2018 academic year! We can't wait to show you what we have in store for this year!
Ultimate Parsha
Pirkei Avot  tells us that we should acquire a teacher and that we should acquire a friend. But what if we acquire a wonderful teacher by cutting the class of another teacher? What if we acquire a good and true friend by lying about ourselves when we first meet? Surely, as Machiavelli would tell us, the ends justifies the means and the main thing is to acquire this teacher and friend, right?

2 Truths & A Lie
We are excited to feature someone from the RMBA family in every issue of the Buzz via this fun game! Want to be featured? Email Tania Levenstein your 2 truths and a lie!

Rabbi Aaron Levitt

1. I lived in Israel for 3 years as a child.
2. I had my Bar Mitzva in a church.
3. I am the oldest in my family.

Learning From Each Other

Teachers returned to school last week to prepare their classrooms and learn from each other. During the 3 day in-service, staff and faculty were treated to a seminar by keynote speaker Temima Feldman who spoke about building professional learning communities. Everyone got to play a game where the goal was to match all the pieces together. Once completed the puzzle spelled out " You have worked well as a team!". The activity was fun and engaging!

PTO School Picnic

A huge THANK YOU to PTO president Dawne Yarmush for organizing the wonderful RMBA PTO back to school picnic at Godwin Park! Students, their families, and staff members had a wonderful time getting to know each other, enjoying a bbq buffet, and later playing on the playground. To view more pictures please click here.
Photo Booth Fun

EC and Lower School students had a fantastic time posing in the back to school photo booth, printing their pictures, decorating frames, and eating delicious ice cream snacks. Students and parents had the opportunity to meet their new teachers before school began. Click here to view the all the pictures from the great back to school social!
But First, Coffee!

Students were greeted back to school on Wednesday by staff, faculty, and their fellow classmates, however, parents had a special treat of scrumptious cookies and fresh coffee, thanks to the generosity of the RMBA PTO. Parents were treated the first 3 days of school and had the opportunity to meet each other.
Shofar Sounds

Thank you to board member and parent Steven Plumb who came to blow the shofar for our early childhood and lower school students.
Mystery Bag Game

What mitzvah can you do with every single part of you? Our EC 4 class explored mitzvot that we can do with different parts of our body. We can use our noses for smelling besamim (havdallah spices ), our eyes for reading the alef bet, our head for learning Torah, our mouth's for smiling and speaking nicely, our hands to light Shabbat candles, our legs for running to help a friend etc. The children looked in the magic bag to find items related to each body part and had a great time pulling a surprise item out.
1st Day for 1st Grade

First Grade celebrates the first day of school by "rocking" their crowns. They had a great time decoratin gand making them and were taken for a tour down the Lower School hallway. Everyone is so excited about everything they will learn this year.
Senior Class BBQ

The class of 2018 celebrated kicking off the start of their senior year with a special BBQ. Thank you to the Geralnik family for opening up their home.
