Bnot Sherut Osi and Shira ran an incredible Ulpan Maasi activity in which lower school students had the opportunity to "visit" Tel Aviv. Students learned all about Tel Aviv, the high tech industry, and the beautiful beaches. They then prepared ice cream from scratch and got to enjoy it on the "beach."
Ultimate Parsha
In this week's parsha, my bar mitzvah parsha of Vayeira, we learn that Hashem "knows" (read: loves) Avraham because he teaches his children the ways of Hashem. [18:19] We further see Avraham welcoming guests, and actively encouraging Ishmael into service. The lessons here are twofold: we teach the things we truly value to our children, and the best way to teach them is by practicing these values together.

AIPAC High School Summit

High school students spent time in Washington, D.C. Sunday through Tuesday at the Schusterman Advocacy Institute High School Summit. AIPAC partners with a select number of Jewish Day schools, synagogues, national youth groups, and teen leadership organizations to bring 400 high school student leaders from across the country to Washington, D.C. for Israel advocacy and political activism training. Thank you to Rinat Alatin for chaperoning the group. Click here to see additional pictures.
Stand with Us

On Tuesday, high school students were visited by 2 IDF soldiers representing the organization Stand with Us. Students heard both from an Israeli-born soldier and an American-born "lone soldier" what it was like serving in the IDF and what protecting Israel means to each of them. The soldiers were impressed by the students' vast knowledge about Israel and that so many RMBA students choose to spend time studying in Israel after graduation.
Fall Fun

Morah Alyssa's EC3 class created fun sensory bags with mess-free finger painting. The children mixed colors in the bags and got to squish their hands around without getting dirty! They also did blow painting with straws. The kids poured some fall colors onto a piece of paper and blew the paint around with the straws. These creations will become part of a bigger fall project.
A Special Shabbat Visit

On Friday last week Morah Heather's EC4 class welcomed a special guest to their class, Ben Ackerman's Savta! Mrs. Wolf showed the eager class how to bake challah and all of the children got a turn to shape and braid their own. Once the challaot were baked, the class smelled delicious and everyone said the bracha (blessing) and enjoyed their challot together during the Shabbat oneg (party). Thank you Mrs. Wolf for the exciting activity and visit!

The Multiplication Shuffle

Who said math elective is boring?
Students study, help each other, and have fun while reinforcing math skills.
The multiplication shuffle game was a great activity for students to review and reinforce the multiplication tables.
