IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report

If you think mass media is all about advertising, well, you may be right. The different types of media do tend to have groups that monitor ad trends within that media, such as the Radio Advertising Bureau and the Television Bureau of Advertising. Often this data is published online, and thus is a convenient information resource.
For its part, the Interactive Advertising Bureau has just published their annual IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report, which, as you might imagine, paints a far rosier picture than the ad reports of the old-line media. While ad spending in traditional media limps along anemically, Internet advertising is showing “strong growth,” with annual revenues up 21% over 2010, reaching $31.7 billion. Mobile ad spending showed even a better increase – up 149% over 2010.
To people with popular web sites, this is probably pretty encouraging. To me, this sounds like more 30 second commercials before viewing online videos.
