"The Sounds of Jerusalem" Celebrating 50 years of unity
Wednesday May 24th @ 6:45PM
The Bet Torah congregation and friends are invited to join a FREE, special event, hosted by the WJC
With Yom Ha'zikaron and Yom Ha'atzmaut behind us, we now turn our attention to our next celebration of
Yom Yerushalayim.
This year marks 50 years since the Six Day War and the reunification of Jerusalem. We hope you will commemorate this special occasion with us on
Wednesday May 24th, when we come together as a community to celebrate 50 years of unity.
The evening begins at 6:45 pm with a light, kosher Israeli-style dinner followed by a festive presentation at 7:30 -9:00 with an Israeli band, 'MusicTalks', which combines music with engaging and interactive conversation. We are going to hear famous Jerusalem songs, with some interesting stories of the 'beyond the scenes" of the songs.

The Jewish Book Club
May 25th at 8pm
Book Club will be discussing "The Genius of Judaism" by Bernard-Henri Levy.
Levy is a renown film maker, author, liberal activist, and philosopher. He comes from a secular French Jewish family but is the great grandson of a rabbi.
As a French Jew Levy returns again and again to the issues of antisemitism and the Holocaust. Modern Anti Semitism had its most dramatic entrance in the 1890's when the French military court martialed and sent to Devil's Island Dreyfus. And few French Jews of Levy's parents generation were untouched by the Holocaust.
The Genius of Judaism is worth reading, if only to find out what Levy believes to be IS the genius of our religion.. Hint: it is found in the Book of Jonah.
