Welcome to the June 2017 issue of  Beyond the Baseline

The month of June is typically the slowest month of the year at YTC.  The Jr. program wraps up, Adult and Jr makeups wind down, summer club pro's are gone , the outside temps start to heat up (boiling is more accurate the last few days) and most people want to be outside after a long winter & lousy spring.  Besides USTA matches which occur almost every night on all six courts, June is what we call the quiet before the storm.

Storm? it's a coming June 26th! That's the first day of our Junior Summer Camp which every year grows and is one of the more popular programs we run.  Mark Santucci is fine tuning the format,  the camp slogan is being massaged and the staff is getting ready. I highly encourage if your child wants to play tennis or even just try it, they'll have a blast with a minimal commitment.  Go for it!

Father's Day is this Sunday and a great gift for the person who claims to have everything is a simple YTC Gift Card. Use it for anything we do or offer. Take a hitting lesson with Louis or Alexa to activate that FitBit , finally get that 2nd slice serve as a weapon and do an hour with Coleman, Mark or Renee.  Grab your college son/daughter who seems to sleep till 11am more than they should and play some open time. If you time it around lunch, we'll take your order for the Taco Truck on rt 9A and have lunch with us!

This past week we sent out the 2017-18 Adult Clinic renewal information and the front desk staff will be giving a courtesy call to be sure you received it.  Give Thane a call for specifics.

We're close to " DAT Time" and the revamped release of the fall Junior Program.  Though many people can't think that far ahead or wrap their head around kids schedules at this point we will release the specifics shortly.  Block scheduling, team teaching, free open time with enrollment, red ball complimentary drop in sessions before class and revised Saturday 5-8pm with free play time opportunities. Tendai's fired up and that's an under statement based on yesterdays conversation.

You'll notice when in some new faces helping out for the summer at the club. Nicole Cummings smiles up a storm a few days a week. Maya Curto debuts in late June and if you ask her about New Orleans you may just need a few hours. Esteban will be back in and of course, camp time is CIT Time!  YTC doesn't function as well in the summer without our CIT's, they're fun and hard working!

Quiet before the storm,  doesn't seem as quiet as I thought when you think about it!

YTC In the Community!

A special shout out to YTC junior player, Caitlin Budzynski, a 10th grader at Maria Ragina High School in Hartsdale.  She won the "Tiger of the Team" award at her school athletic banquet. The "Tiger of the Team" is a spirit and effort type of award.

One of seniors on the team won the MVP award, but Caitlin was the person who carried the team, motivated others, worked hard and had great results.

Congratulations Caitlin!
