Perfect Love Casts Out Fear
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
1 John 4:18 (NASB)

God is love.  When we  take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us....There is no room in love for fear.  Well-formed love banishes fear.  Since fear is crippling, a fearful  life- fear of death, fear of judgment - is one not yet full formed in love.  1 John 4:17a, 18 (The Message)

Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.  Colossians 3:14 (NASB)

I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as you have loved Me.
John 17:23 (NASB)

Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

There are legitimate causes for fear in our society today.  Not since the Civil War have we encountered so much danger.  Never have we seen, on so many fronts, the potential of mass destruction and the possibility of violent death, as we now do in our country.

Technology, when used for good, benefits mankind in health, communication, and every other area of our life.  Technology, in the hands of evil forces, sends mankind in a deadly downward spiral to destruction.

We who have a great respect and love for our country find it hard to cope as we realize how far we have descended into a morass of evil.  There is no need to make a list.  If your senses are working, you know.

Am I wringing my hands crying, "Woe is me?  We're done."  No, a thousand times, no!  Let's bring our Almighty God into the picture with His promises for the future.

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear"

1 John 4:18a (NASB)

"Say to those with an anxious heart, 'take courage, fear not'" Isaiah 35:4 (NASB)

"The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted" Proverbs 29:25 (NASB)

Keep reading!  Read on in Isaiah 41:10, Jeremiah 32:27 and Luke 2:10.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:6, 7 (NASB).

Study Jeremiah 33:3, Colossians 1:11, Isaiah 43:11, Revelation 21:7,8.
"Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness" Lamentations 3:22, 23 (NASB).

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 8:38, 39 (NASB).

BTR is still providing teaching material from Bible lessons that Don has taught.  Please pray with us that God will supply every need and throw open the doors for ministry that will glorify Him.

Listen to Zacharias as he glorifies God at the birth of John the Baptist in Luke 1:74, 75: "That He would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life."

"He will shield you with his wings.  He will shelter you with his feathers.  His faithful promises are your armor and protection" Psalm 91:4 (NLT).

There is absolutely nothing to fear about tomorrow, for God is already there!

At the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787, Benjamin Franklin said, "I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth-that God governs in the affairs of men....I therefore beg leave to move, that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning."

Pause for Power: A 365-Day Journey Through the Scriptures by Warren W. Wiersbe

Joshua captured all these kings and their lands at one time, because the Lord, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.  Joshua 10:42

One by one, Joshua and the Israelites marched through the cities of the Amorites and defeated them all.  But they didn't do it on their own.  God performed miracles on behalf of His people.  The Lord confused the Amorites and made them vulnerable (Joshua 10:10), He rained down huge hailstones on them (10:11), He stopped the sun in its course for an entire day (10:12 - 14), and He cornered the five kings of the Amorites in a cave so Joshua could finish them off (10:16).  God had promised to fight on behalf of His people and He came through in unforgettable ways.  God may not respond to believers' prayers today by stopping the sun or by punishing our rivals with natural disasters.  But the Lord does help us fight our battles.  God works in amazing ways through the indwelling Holy Spirit, who gives us strength to resist sin and obey God.
