Always be sure to keep your distributor in the loop regarding your marketing efforts; if not, there is a good chance the wholesalers' warehouses will not have enough copies of your book to meet an unexpected surge in demand, and many bookstores are resistant to backorder.  Most distributors ask that you give three weeks' notice of any promotional or marketing updates.
