It has been an exciting month at the Big Ten CRC! Please see the developments below for highlights from the past few weeks. I'd like to bring special attention to a two-part series the Big Ten Network is doing on the Big Ten CRC. See Part One, which was published today. In addition, the consortium is actively seeking a candidate for the next Executive Officer. Please see the story on our website for full application instructions.

Clinical Trial Working Groups
Goal for 2014: One concept from each institution.

GU:
  • Face to face meeting at ASCO on Saturday, May 31, from 8:30-9:30 p.m. CDT.
  • Two approved LOIs: Prostate (University of Michigan) and renal cell carcinoma (University of Illinois).
Thoracic:
  • Face to face meeting at ASCO on Sunday, June 1, from 8:30-9:30 p.m. CDT.
  • Concept: Non-small cell lung cancer (Indiana University).
GI:
  • Face to face meeting at ASCO on Saturday, May 31, from 7-8 p.m. CDT.
  • Approved LOI: hepatocellular (Indiana University).
Senior Project Manager
Zoe Holt provides project management for Big Ten CRC protocols and administrative support for the meetings and activities of the steering committee and cancer center directors. Zoe will oversee the efforts to establish an expedited IRB process, and developing institutional relationships to support the consortium's fundraising priorities. Read more.

Executive Officer
The Big Ten CRC is accepting applications for executive officer. Candidates must be faculty members at BTCRC member institutions. The executive officer will serve as an advocate and leader for the consortium by engaging with pharmaceutical partners, key leaders in the consortium, and the administrative headquarters in Indianapolis. The position will require 20 percent of the candidate's time. Read more.

The designers of the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium website entered our site into the 31st Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards and it won a Gold award. The Healthcare Advertising Awards are the largest, oldest, and most respected healthcare advertising awards program in the country. The Big Ten CRC website was selected from more than 4,000 entries.
