 The University of Illinois Cancer Center has named Robert A. Winn, MD, as interim director of the cancer center. Dr. Winn, an NCI-funded physician-scientist has served at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System since November 2012 and formerly practiced at the University of Colorado Hospital and VA Medical Center in Denver. Dr. Winn has extensive experience in lung cancer research, both as a clinician and as a researcher. Read more.

 The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center recently named Brad Kahl, MD, as the institution's representative on the BTCRC steering committee. Dr. Kahl is associate professor of medicine at the University of Wisconsin, director of the UW Lymphoma Service, and clinical research director for hematologic malignancies at UW Carbone Cancer Center.  Andrea Hurd, CCRP, has joined BTCRC administrative headquarters as clinical protocol development coordinator. In her role, Hurd works with leading researchers to develop and coordinate Clinical Trial Working Groups. She also works with the BTCRC research development staff to help manage the early development of protocols. Read more.

The Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium will host a meeting for Big Ten cancer center directors and administrators during the Association of American Cancer Institutes and Cancer Center Administrators Forum on Monday, Oct. 27, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. CDT, at the Westin Chicago River North (Grant Lincoln Park Room), 320 N.
