Birding on Beech w/ Grandfather Mountain State Park
Beech Mountain Parks & Recreation will be hosting a special program, "Birding on Beech" with Ranger Appling of Grandfather Mountain State Park on Monday, May 9th at 9:00 am.

Spring is upon us and change is in the air. The trees are transitioning from grey to green and musical notes not heard in months are filling the forest. Who is singing? Well the neotropical migratory birds of course! Our mountains are the summer breeding grounds for neotropical migratory birds and they will be arriving here soon. Ranger Appling of Grandfather Mountain State Park will lead a birding hike along the Wild Iris Trail to hear or see our feathered forest friends. Bring your binoculars and birding field guides to enhance your experience. Please dress appropriately for the weather, wear your hiking shoes, and please leave your pets at home for this program. The Wild Iris Trail is easy to moderate in difficulty and approximately 1.6 miles in length.
