Trinity Church in Menlo Park

This Sunday, we will welcome the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, who served as Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church from 2006 to 2015. Bishop Jefferts Schori will be a part of our annual Advent Service of Lessons and Carols at the 10 am service, offering an Advent Reflection.  She will also be giving a Formation Talk after lunch, exploring further the relationship between faith and science from her perspective both as a bishop and an oceanographer.   Please note that there will be no Communion at the 10 am service this Sunday.  There will be Communion at 8 am and 5:05 pm.  And, this Sunday's 5:05 service will be our monthly TaizĂ© offering.

We will have both Godly Play and Explorers this Sunday, in Trinity Hall.  After church, children will have lunch and then practice for the Christmas Pageant.  The Nursery will be open for younger children.

D ecember 18 is our annual Church Christmas Partyafter the 10 am service.  In addition to enjoying a festive lunch prepared by the Kitchen Crew, we will enjoy a Carol Sing to get us all in the Christmas spirit.  Children will once again be putting final touches on the Christmas Pageant.  Also, at the 5:05 service on December 18, we will offer our annual "Blue Christmas" liturgy, a service that is meant for those who might be struggling this Christmas season, and for those who wish to share in solidarity with them.

Trinity will be offering three services on Christmas Eve at 3 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm.  On Christmas Day, we will have only one service at 10 am.   Click here for more information on our Christmas schedule.

Thanks to all of you who have made your pledges so far!  The campaign to support our budget in 2017 is off to a good start, though we still have a number of people to hear from.   If you need a pledge card, please contact our office.    You can learn more about the church's finances and the importance of giving, as well as find a link to the online pledge card by clicking here

Peace,

PRAYER
Our God is the One who comes to us
in a burning bush,
 in an angel's song,
in a newborn child.

Our God is the One who cannot be found
locked in the church,
not even in the sanctuary.

Our God will be where God will be
with no constraints,
no predictability.

Our God lives where our God lives,
and destruction has no power
and even death cannot stop
the living.

Our God will be born where God will be born,
but there is no place to look for the One who comes to us.

When God is ready
God will come
even to a godforsaken place
like a stable in Bethlehem.

Watch...
for you know not when
God Comes.

Watch, that you might be found
whenever
wherever
God comes.

- Ann Weems
