Lindsey Dotson
In November of 2016 Lindsey Dotson moved to Charlevoix from Ypsilanti, Michigan to take the job as Executive Director of Charlevoix Main Street & Downtown Development Authority.  Before coming to Charlevoix she served as the Executive Director of the Wayne Main Street program and prior to that worked with the City of Howell's DDA/Main Street program as Outreach Coordinator.  While in graduate school Lindsey also gained experience working for the City of Detroit's Planning and Development Department.  Dotson earned her Bachelor's degree from Grand Valley University and her Master's degree in Historic Preservation from Eastern Michigan University.  In her spare time, Lindsey enjoys being outdoors with her husband Trevor.  Kayaking, hiking, & jogging are favorite pastimes which is why Charlevoix is the perfect place to settle down.  Lindsey has a passion for historic preservation and Great Lakes Maritime history.  She volunteers with the Michigan Historic Preservation Network, founded the Michigan chapter of the Rust Belt Coalition of Young Preservationists called MYPreservation, volunteers with HistoriCorps/The National Forest Service restoring historic structures, helps with the non-profit organization SOS Vermilion to save a US Life Saving Station on Lake Superior, and is a Rotarian.  Lindsey and her husband Trevor are expecting their first child in September 2017 and look forward to spending their lives in Charlevoix. state

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT FALLS ON ABBIE HART
Abbie Hart, Branch Manager for 4Front Credit Union, is in her 2nd year as a Chamber Ambassador and we are very fortunate to have her.  Abbie says that "being a young professional, I wanted to get involved and get other young people and families to love Charelvoix and to make this their home."  Being a Chamber Ambassador is helping her do just that.  As a Chamber Ambassador I am "out in the community", "knowing what's going on" and "helping others with questions."  Ambassadors help by putting multiple faces to the Chamber and shows that there are all types of people and professions within this great town.

When asked what she liked most about living, working and volunteering in Charlevoix, Abbie said, "one of my favorite lines is "it takes a village".  Charlevoix is a village that comes together at the hardest of times but yet still challenges each other at other times.  I love supporting this town and the people in it that are leading it....I also love the water...

I asked Abbie what was something that most people may not know about her.  She said, "after growing up on Beaver Island, one of my bucket list items to get to all 50 states."  I wonder how many she has left to visit??

ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME FOR 2 YOUNG MEN
Camp Quality Michigan would like to extend a huge thank you to SkyDive Harbor Springs, Luther Kurtz and his staff, and the downtown Charlevoix community for the amazing experience they extended to children battling cancer.

Two young men had the extreme adventure of a lifetime on July 28 as they boarded a small airplane and then jumped from 10,000 feet.  Tethered to Luther, they parachuted gently to the ground as they enjoyed a bird's eye view of Charlevoix and Lake Michigan.

The event took an amazing amount of work behind the scenes by  SkyDive Harbor Springs to obtain the required permissions needed to allow minors to make the jump.  Many Charlevoix community members joined the event at the airport to show their support and cheer on Dylan and Garrett.

The jump was followed by lunch at The Villager Pub, dessert from Kilwins, and souvenirs from  Charlevoix Harbor Wear all compliments of the business owners.

SkyDive Harbor Springs will keep their invitation open for future jumps with Camp Quality campers.  THANK YOU!!  Camp  Quality Michigan serves children with cancer and their families by providing year-round programs, experiences and companionship, at not cost and operates solely on private donations
