Black Cat Comics

Weekly Newsletter

March 15, 2017

Are you now, or have you ever been, a Con-unist,
Here at Black Cat Comics in rockin' Milpitas we're eating our vitamins and getting plenty of rest and exercise because we're in the middle of our busiest time of the year: Convention Season! In addition to everything we do to be your favorite one-stop-shop for all things Super Hero, we're also travelling up and down the West Coast attending the best comic conventions in the Multiverse, like Emerald City Comic-Con in Seattle Washington, WonderCon in Anaheim, and, of course, San Diego Comic-Con, the biggest Comic convention anywhere! We're out there on the front lines of the Comics Industry going to panels to hear about the next big thing from your favorite publishers, we're meeting creators and trying to get them into our store for signings, we're checking out the latest trends in the collector markets, and we're scoring great deals on awesome classic Comics so you can pick up some vintage books at fair prices. Sure, we have a great time doing it, but we put forth all that effort just for you! Here at Black Cat Comics we want to be your #1 source for all things Comics, and that means we have to do a lot more than just order the issues that are on your subscription list. We want to be able to tell you all about the 25th Anniversary of Image Comics, we want to be able to explain the new project from Stan Lee, and we want Golden, Silver, and Bronze Age comics to be available to you in good condition at great prices. But we also want you to be able to experience these things for yourself, so we do a little thing we like to call the Black Cat Comics Rockin' Milpitas Pre-Comic-Con Comic-Con, where we simulate a lot of the things you would see at a convention right here in our own back yard! From off-site adventures, to extracurricular in-store activities, to everything you expect on New Comics Wednesday, Black Cat Comics does everything we can, and then some, to make your hobby as much fun for you as we possibly can. Follow us on Facebook, check out the events page at, and peruse this newsletter each and every Wednesday for all the latest and greatest from the world of four-color funnies! And if you like what we're doing, if you have ideas on how we can improve, or if you have any other kind of suggestion, don't hesitate to speak up and let us know. We'd love to know what more we can do to improve your Comicbook experience.

In the aftermath of the Clone Conspiracy, things get even more perilous and exciting as Norman Osborn returns in Amazing Spider-Man #25, a double sized issue that welcomes superstar artist Stuart Immonen to the title. It goes without saying that Norman Osborn, in any disguise or identity, is at the top of Spidey's rogues gallery. What does the nefarious former Goblin have planned for Peter? And what's it going to take to stop him this time? Amazing Spider-Man is as good as it's been in a long time. Pick up Black Cat Packs of recent issues, or just jump into this week's #25. - Causey
Sometimes the gods can be petty little things. The gods of the Shi'ar have set challenges for Thor as the gods of Asgard and the Shi'ar go to war. I love the sheer arrogance of the Shi'ar gods. You immediately root for Thor and  pray she slaps one of them silly. I can't wait for the battle to begin. If last issue is any indication Shi'ar battle tech may not stand  up to Asgardian arrows!?! Pick up   The Mighty Thor #17 today! - Al
Scott Snyder teams up with Giuseppe Camuncoli to bring us the Mad Hatter in All Star Batman #8. Whenever Jervis Tetch is involved you can expect this Batman story arc to be twisted and full of surprises. Fans of the New 52 Batman run should pick up this book to see villains that Snyder did not get to write in that fantastic series. I can't wait to see what the Mad Hatter has up his sleeve for Batman, hopefully it involves one of his famous tea parties. - Anthony
American Gods #1 hits the shelves this week. Dark Horse has done an amazing job adapting Neil Gaiman's masterpieces into comic form over the years. This series is no exception. Adapted by the wonderfully talented P. Craig Russell you get all the great Neil Gaiman dialogue, mood and setup with Scott Hampton's artwork. If you're unfamiliar with American Gods, here's a quick synopsis: gods live among us but require our worship and acknowledgement of them to survive. There's a war of sorts coming and the new vs. old gods are preparing for battle. We see what's happening through the eyes of a man named Shadow Moon; troubled, broken and utterly out of his element. It's a great adaption and I'm anxious to see how the rest of the series unfolds. Make sure you pick this one up today - but fair warning - it's for adult eyes only!! Enjoy! - Francie

With our recent move we've lost all the awesome reviews we had on Yelp. Whenever a business relocates they remove the old reviews and treat it as a brand new business. Our reviews look pretty meager! We could use your help in spicing them up! Thanks in advance!
