Black Cat Comics

Weekly Newsletter

June 28, 2017

A Midsummer Night's Dream,
Here at Black Cat Comics in rockin' Milpitas we love Summer! Sure, everyone loves the shining Sun, the beach, the pool, BBQ's, and, of course, the whole "no school" thing, but the reason Comicbook Cats love Summer is because July has a couple of the very best events of the whole year! San Diego Comic-Con is easily the biggest and best Comic Convention in the Multiverse! Every year thousands and thousands of fanboys and fangirls descend upon the city of San Diego for 5 days of the most fun you can have in or out of costume. From vintage Comics to the latest movie and TV news, San Diego Comic-Con is the premiere pop culture event in the world. But not everyone can get a ticket to the greatest convention on Earth, either because of the price or because the whole show sells out in a matter of minutes. So here at Black Cat Comics in rockin' Milpitas we have put together July's second best event: The Black Cat Comics Rockin' Milpitas Pre-Comic-Con Comic-Con! Since so many of our cats and kittens can't make it to SDCC, we've simulated some of the best things about that show right here at your favorite friendly neighborhood comicbook store free of charge! We've got Preview Night for the VIP's, a live podcast, panel discussions about the ins and outs of the industry, Movie Night, big sales, and lots of other fun and exciting events over 5 days from Wednesday 7/12 to Sunday 7/16! Check out the Events page at BlackCatComics.biz and keep up with this newsletter for all the details on our biggest event of the year! If you're not going to SDCC this year, make sure you attend our soiree, then follow our live updates from San Diego so you can feel like you're there, and then, when we get back from the show, come in and check out all the awesome exclusives and vintage comics that we bring back with us! But just because we have all these extracurriculars going on, don't think we've forgotten about our New Comics Wednesdays! No matter what else we do, we'll always be your One-Stop-Shop for all things Super-Hero!

Weekly Comics for the week of 6/28/17
Weekly Comics for the week of 6/28/17

Infamous Iron Man #9 is written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by Alex Maleev. No further information is really necessary for this review. Any and every comic ever done by the team-up of these two creators has been awesome, so why would you think this one would be any different? Whether they're doing Daredevil, some event book, or this week's Infamous Iron Man, you know you'll get a great story with great art and that's what Comics are all about. This title is about Dr. Doom seeking redemption by replacing Tony Stark as Iron Man. Great premise, great creators. Buy this book! Pick up the first issue, the Black Cat Pack for volume 1, or just grab this week's new issue! - Causey

Yosemite Sam has hit it rich with his mine and to protect himself and his new found money he has hired Jonah Hex. Foghorn Leghorn also makes an appearance in this special it is pretty awesome to see these Looney Tunes characters in this cowboy setting. Mark Texeira's artwork looks fantastic and gives this book a gritty feel while still keeping the characters original look. JonahHex Yosemite Sam Special #1 comes out this week and if you have missed any of the Looney Tunes DC crossovers you should check them out. - Anthony

I love the premise of redneck vampires in a small town. Three generations of "immortal" vampires trying to live normally in a small town. In issue three it may all blow up in their face. The uneasy truce between the Bowmans and the Landrys may be over. With their BBQ joint burned to the ground and one of their own killed the Bowmans are ready for blood. The young Bowmans are ready to fight but answers may be found by the monster in the attic. Can't wait to meet grandpa. If you like vampires and Southern Gothic be sure to pick up Redneck#3 this Wednesday. - Al

I can't. I just can't. This is too much. Batman and Elmer Fudd? Why, oh why, hasn't DC teamed up with Looney Tunes before now? These team-ups seem so farfetched and yet they come together seamlessly. Take this week's Batman / Elmer Fudd Special #1. We open with Elmer 'hunting' for the killer of his beloved. And whom does he suspect - the billionaire playboy, Bruce Wayne. Peppered with characters we know and love from Looney Tunes, this comic is gritty, funny and an all-around fun romp. Kudos to Tom King for yet another masterpiece. And make sure you stick around for the Looney Tunes comic at the end, it will leave you in stitches! Enjoy! - Francie

With our recent move we've lost all the awesome reviews we had on Yelp. Whenever a business relocates they remove the old reviews and treat it as a brand new business. Our reviews look pretty meager! We could use your help in spicing them up! Thanks in advance!
