Blitzz is Hiring!
With the resignation of Ann Swann in July, the Blitzz decided to reorganize, giving club administrator, Britt Bodtker, a new title of Club Manager.  Britt will take on many of the duties for which Ann was responsible, including communications, website and special projects.  She will continue to handle the daily administration of the club.
We will be hiring a Club Co-Ordinator, who will work closely with the Club Manager, dealing mainly with team paperwork and MYSA registration.  The ideal candidate will have strong computer skills, be organized and able to multi-task, and open to a flexible work schedule. This position will average 10 hours per week.  Interested?  Please email cover letter and resume to blitzzsoccer@yahoo.com

Update from Blitzz FC Technical Director
 Joel Ganey

Hi everyone!

We have been going through incredible growth as a club this past year. Among other things, our numbers are up, the state has been trying to offer league play during the fall for the first time ever and they are also trying to get the clubs some more outside regional competition, we hosted our first ever tournament over Labor Day, and that's just some of what is going on.

Even with all of this, our quality of play is up too! A lot of our teams went to Jackson recently and we had better showings there this year than we ever have before including three champions! I am so very proud of the play that I see from all of our teams throughout these past few weeks and moving into the end of the fall season. All of the players and coaches are putting in tremendous amounts of effort to improve and it is paying off. We are headed in a really positive direction and everything that we are working on right now as a club is going to keep us poised to offer even better playing opportunities for all of the soccer players within the area.

However, we cannot accomplish all of this without your help. Your efforts to get your players to their practices and games week in and week out is greatly appreciated and if you have any skill that you feel might be valuable to the club (and that skill might just be free time), we can use your help.

If you can help in any way, please don't hesitate to contact me or our brand new club president (as of a couple days ago), Kristin Taylor. We are all in this together and with everyone's help we can continue to see success and improvement.  You can always email the club at blitzzsoccer@yahoo.com

On another topic, in my very limited spare time, I sometimes peruse studies online and I recently came across this really interesting piece asking: is praising kids for their ability counter-productive?

One recent study points to just that saying that it may negatively effect a child's motivation to tell them that they are talented at a specific task. Instead, praising a child for their hard work or resiliency that they display and emphasizing their effort is more effective. Keep in mind though that the study does show that any praise is better than none, so don't avoid praise altogether, but read the links below and try to choose your words wisely. I also encourage you to look for more articles on the topic because it is very interesting. Happy reading!
