  We hope SCCDP Members will plan on attending the next Membership Luncheon coming up on September 7th.  It will start at noon in the East Basement Room at the Civic Center.  You'll hear more on happenings in the community and have an opportunity to network with your peers!

Be Safe While Watching the Eclipse

NASA has issued guidelines on how to watch next week's Total Solar Eclipse.

The government agency noted the only safe way to look directly at partially eclipsed or uneclipsed Sun are via special-purpose solar filters, including "eclipse glasses" or hand-held solar viewers.  Please take a few minutes to read the article below and understand how to watch the eclipse safely!

The Eclipse is Coming!

You don’t want to miss out on this amazing opportunity to view a total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017! This is the first total eclipse on American soil since 1991, first on the mainland since 1979, and first to sweep across the entire country since 1918!

 

In Seward, Nebraska you can experience approximately 1 minute and 35 seconds of totality starting at 1:01 p.m. (CDT).  The official viewing locations in Seward County offer a wide variety of events and activities for many different ages and interests.

Milford Chamber Welcomes New Residents!

The Milford Chamber of Commerce is still collecting items to put in Welcome Bags for new residents moving into Milford.  You can drop off the items at InsureNebraska (517 1st Street, Milford) or at Milford Physical Therapy.  The original deadline was Tuesday 8/15 but can extend to Friday 8/18 if needed!

On Sunday, September 17,  2017:


*a video featuring the history of the church will be shown at 9:15 am in the church sanctuary

*Bishop Saenz will be the guest speaker at both the 8:15 and 10:30 AM services

*new quilt, stain glass window and tree will be dedicated

*50 year plus members will be recognized at both services

*handbell mass concert

*dinner will immediately follow the 10:30 AM service

*Seward cross makers are designing a special cross in honor of the celebration



Langworthy Watercolor/Watermedia Contest Entries on Display!

Stop by the Langworthy Gallery at the Seward Civic Center to see the competition entries that will be on display through September 30.  An official event of the Nebraska S150, this event honors and thanks Jessie T. Langworthy and Nebraska Sesquicentennial Committee.  The GFWC Seward Women's Club will be serving refreshments on Sunday, August 6 from 2pm-4pm, and the public is encouraged to attend this reception!  The event is sponsored by the Seward Civic Center, Seward Arts Council, and Red Path Gallery.
