The Ron Enyard Quintet is led by one of the region's most esteemed veteran drummers. Ron is a jazz artist whose career has spanned 6 decades, in the mid-west, on the west coast and internationally, and his playing is as engaging and vibrant as ever. (Read an in depth interview from Cadence Magazine here.) His group will feature the talents of alto saxophonist/flutist Sandy Suskind, tenor saxophonist JD Allen, organist Dan Karlsberg, and vocalist Dave Tarbell. Ron recently was honored with the Ralph Adams Jazz and Cultural Lifetime Achievement Award. Established in 2001, The Ralph Adams Lifetime Achievement Awards honor trail blazers in the Indianapolis, IN jazz community. Cover charge is $5. |

It's Baron John Von Ohlen and the Award Winning 16-piece Blue Wisp Big Band, (check out this YouTube video clip) holding down Wednesday nights at the Wisp for over 30 years. JVO drummed for the likes of Stan Kenton and Woody Herman. He is an internationally known, highly regarded big band drummer and this seasoned and seriously swinging jazz big band can be sublime.  Triage is an award winning local jazz fusion group featuring vocalist/percussionist Eugene Goss and keyboardist/composer Billy Larkin. They are joined on this engagement by longtime collaborator, drummer Randy Winters. Triage performs virtuosic and spontaneous improvised music that hits upon funk, Latin montunos and swinging jazz grooves. Eugene's world-class vocal stylings compare favorably to those of Nat King Cole, Stevie Wonder and Eddie Jefferson; Billy's compositions and arrangements are sophisticated and contemporary. Triage is absolutely enthralling entertainment that is full of surprises. Cover charge is $5.

Happy Hour blues entertainment from Delbert Williams, our resident blues doctor. All the blues you can use, along with specials on drinks. At 8:30pm The Rusty Burge Quartet features the virtuosic musicianship of the group's leader on vibraphone, supported by a stellar group of Cincinnati-based musicians (Phil DeGreg-piano, Mike Sharfe-bass, John Taylor-drums). Rusty joined the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music faculty in 1992 as a member of Percussion Group Cincinnati, with whom he has performed extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia. He received his undergraduate degree from the Eastman School of Music and a masters degree from CCM. Professor Burge teaches percussion, jazz vibraphone and directs the CCM Steel band. He is an active jazz vibraphonist who has recorded for Summit, J Curve Records, Human Records, Telarc and WVXU. Recent jazz performances with Peter Erskine, Dave Liebman, Rufus Reid, Steve Allee, Roland Vazquez, Michael Spiro, Gregg August, Phil DeGreg and Kim Pensyl. His first solo recording Contrast was released in 2004 followed by Frequency 2009, and Illumination in 2010. His newest recording, Transitions, will be released in March 2012. $10 cover.

Pat Kelly Organ Quartet with Oz Landesberg - tenor sax, George Simon - guitar and Todd Remmy - drums will play hip jazz tunes and standards. End your weekend with some grooving, funky organ jazz - at a reasonably early hour that will get you home in time to get a good night's sleep before Monday morning comes around. Come early for dinner or dine later - the Wisp's kitchen is open until midnight. Cover is $5.
