Board member Aura Reinhardt honored at George E. Merrick Awards of Excellence

Aura, Vice President of Corporate Relations at Bacardi USA, was chosen for her love of the community and deep appreciation for all things Coral Gables. Through her work on the Foundation's Board of Directors as well as her community outreach efforts at Bacardi, she has shown true leadership in the City Beautiful.

 

Aura was honored along with other Coral Gables community leaders at the George E. Merrick Awards of Excellence Dinner on Thursday, June 25 at the University of Miami Donna E. Shalala Student Center.

Coral Gables Community Foundation Board member Pat Blanco recently returned from Fiji, where she spent time educating the population about health and nutrition.


Pat, a registered nurse, stayed aboard the USNS Mercy (T-AH-19), the lead ship of her class of hospital ships in the United States Navy, complete with 1,000 hospital beds and twelve operating rooms. On the island, she participated in community health fairs, where she checked vital signs, informed locals about the importance of understanding nutrition and taught women how to give self-breast exams.


"This is my second time working with Project HOPE, which is dedicated to providing care to the neediest people all over the world, and my first time working with the dedicated healthcare professionals of the US Navy," said Pat, who also has a master's degree in Public Health.

 

Board member Sissy DeMaria recognized by South Florida Luxury Guide


In the July/August issue of South Florida Luxury Guide, Coral Gables Community Foundation Board m ember and 2015 Gala Co-Chair Sissy DeMaria is featured as a "Woman of Style and Substance."

In a beautiful spread appearing in South Florida Luxury Guide (see pages 59-60), Sissy shares her inspirations and talks about an organization that is very close to her heart - Give A Buck, which is also a fund at the Coral Gables Community Foundation.

FOCUS ON FUNDS

Local Girl Scouts receive CGCF patches

 

Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida created "Coral Gables Community Foundation" patches for Camp Mahachee campers after the Foundation awarded the Girl Scouts with a $5,000 grant in 2014. Foundation Board Members John O'Rourke III  and Scott Poulin and Executive Director  Mary Snow  presented the special patches to the girls at Camp Mahachee on Friday, June 12, 2015.

Ponce Society of Young Professionals hold 2015 FriendRaiser Happy Hour

 

The third annual FriendRaiser of the Ponce Society of Young Professionals (PSYP) was a great success! Coral Gables young professionals joined together for Happy Hour at Montica Jewelry, which generously hosted the event. A few lucky attendees even took home great raffle prizes!

 

During the FriendRiaser, PSYP Chair Monica Canabal and PSYP member Amanda Bonifay spoke to the crowd about the mission of the Ponce Society of Young Professionals while Montica Jewelry President and Foundation Chair-Elect John O'Rourke III encouraged the young professionals in attendance to get involved in their community through the Coral Gables Community Foundation.
