Riverstone community members,

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Todd Horn as our Interim Head for the 2018-2019 school year. Todd brings to Riverstone 40 years of independent school experience, including distinguished service as Head of both day and boarding schools. The Board of Trustees is excited to have retained an expert of Todd's caliber to provide exemplary leadership as we navigate forward into our school's promising future.

The Search Committee selected Todd for his vast wealth of experience and im p ressive record of success. In addition, through his work with Bob Carignan as a fellow Malone Scholar School Head and service as a judge at the Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge at Boise State University, Todd is already familiar with and fond of both Riverstone and the Boise area.

  • As an executive coach, Todd has taught 180 new heads of school and trained nonprofit boards in governance, strategic planning, transition management, finance, and fundraising. Through his role as president of two Western accrediting independent school associations and work with the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Todd has become known for his ability to fortify school culture and bring out the best in educators and educational communities.
  • Todd has served as a trustee/advisory board member to an international student program, a national organization focusing on moral and ethical development, and to an IB boarding school.

  • Todd enjoys outdoor adventure (especially backpacking in Southern Utah), fly fishing, and hiking the peaks of New Hampshire. His sportsman's spirit forms a perfect synergy with Riverstone's outdoor education ethos.
In Todd's own words: "I am honored and thrilled to be joining the Riverstone community. Riverstone combines the very best programs and people to accomplish a vital mission. I look forward to building on the great leadership and progress that has made Riverstone stand out as a welcoming and intentional community that blends the very best of outdoor and international education in a way that empowers students to enjoy a lifetime of learning and success. Riverstone truly inspires courageous journeys of academic and personal exploration that enable students to lead purposeful lives and I can't wait to contribute to that journey."

I feel confident that Todd will make an outstanding addition to our Riverstone community, not only providing a steady hand on the tiller during this time of change, but also lending the full weight of his experience to elevate our school and lay the groundwork for a successful transition to our permanent head.

Todd will be on campus to meet members of the school community in March (dates to be announced shortly). We encourage you all to take advantage of his visit to become acquainted with Todd and show him a warm Riverstone welcome.

Sincerely,
