The Department of Water Management in consultation with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has issued a
Boil Water Advisory for all buildings located on
East Division Street from State Street to Lake Shore Drive and
1201 North Astor,
1167 and
1201 North State Street and
1200 North Lake Shore Drive.
This includes water for drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, washing dishes by hand, brushing teeth, or any other activity involving the consumption of water.
This precaution is due to a break on the main which feeds the above addresses. While working to install a new main, the contractor caused a loss of pressure in the line. This loss of pressure requires a boil order under City of Chicago protocols to ensure no contaminants are present. This notice shall remain in effect until microbiological tests are approved.
This water is safe for non potable uses such as bathing, clothes washing, and dishwaters.
Water should be brought to a full rolling boil for at least 5 minutes to ensure that it is safe for consumption. Boiled water may be stored at room temperature or refrigerated in a closed container until needed.
We expect this order will be in place for no more than
24 hours, but the buidlings will be notified as soon as the order is lifted.
