WHY RUN/WALK?

Booking It winners

Sr. Sylvia, a Holy Names nun who works with the students supported by the Booking It Run/Walk,  wrote the following about one of the teenagers who received a scholarship from a previous Booking It Run/Walk:

"Refiloe Lebitsa is 14 years old.  She is the third and last child of three.  Her parents are both alive but very poor.  They do not work.  They and their first daughter are still looking for jobs at the factory shops, but since they are not educated it is impossible to get lucky.  Rifiloe passed Standard 7 two years ago but failed to pursue her education because of the family condition.  She will attend school at Bishop De Mazenod High."

What is Booking It?

Shay running

In 2007, Shay Glackin-Coley - then ten years old - wanted to get a job to raise money for a charitable cause.  Given the lack of good paying jobs for ten year olds and his love of running, he decided to organize a fund raising run instead.  Shay brought his ideas to the  Lesotho Connection where his energy and enthusiasm founded the run and continue to touch lives here and in Lesotho.

Since 2007 Booking It participants have
provided 4 grade school and 25 High School
scholarships for students in Lesotho
