We couldn’t be more proud of Coach Miller for this well-deserved honor. Our community is so lucky to have such a dedicated, caring, and knowledgeable coach lead our young ladies on and off of the field hockey field.

Boys Swim and Dive Takes States
Our boys team finished off a perfect season this past Saturday by winning our school's first state championship. Prior to States, we went 5-0 in dual meets, won the MCPS Division I Championship, the Metro Championship (first public school to win the boys title since 2000), and the 4A/3A West Regional Championship. Our team's top point scorers for the season were Steven Mendley (JR), Noah Rutberg (SO), Sanjay Wijesekera (SR), and Ian Mackey (SR).

In the state diving competition last Friday, Quinn Westwood (SO) placed third and Robert Rizzo (JR) placed fourth.
Girls Basketball Finishes up a Great Season
The Varsity Girls basketball team had an amazing season, with season highlights of victories over Whitman and the Division champions, BCC. The Bulldogs were led by seniors Gabriella Baker and Abby Mazer , who were recognized on February 16th at Senior Night. The Bulldogs ultimately lost in a hard-fought double OT battle to WJ in the second round of playoffs.
Boys Basketball Ends with a Strong Finish
Boys Varsity Basketball came to an end following a hard-fought second round playoff game against BCC. After a slow start to the season, the team began to gel and finished strong, winning the first round of playoffs against Einstein in a nail biter 74-73, and then losing against the number one seeded BCC team in the second round playoff game where Reed Moshyedi ended his high school basketball career by scoring 27 points. Congratulations to Coaches Blumenthal, Mast, and Williams on a great first year.
Hockey Wins the State Title...Again!
The Churchill Hockey Team won the Maryland Student Hockey League state title for the 4th straight year.

Read all about it in the Washington Post.
5 - Ledo's Pizza Student Athletes of the Month
Congratulations to Parker Hill and Steven Mendley on being our Ledo Pizza Student Athlete’s of the Month!
Steven , a 4.0 GPA student, helped lead the Churchill Boys Swim and Dive Team to three victories in January and an undefeated dual meet season. He won both the 100 free and 200 free against defending state champion Richard Montgomery and holds the fastest times in MCPS in the 100 and 200 free. Steven was also instrumental in leading the swim & dive team to the Metro Championship, the first since 1989.
Parker was named after a starting all 17 Basketball games on Varsity as a Freshman! Parker is essential to the success of both the team offense and defense. In January, Parker achieved two significant Churchill “firsts.” Against Wheaton, Parker recorded a first half double-double! Against division rival Whitman, Parker recorded a triple double, including 10 blocked shots! She is the first freshman to achieve either of these statistic accomplishments. With excellent passing, offensive efficiency, and a growing confidence in her ability to block shots, she has been an integral part of the Bulldogs’ success this season. Parker is a 4.0 student while at Churchill.
We’re so proud of both of you!

And you might wonder, Where Does Your Money Go?
The Churchill Booster Club exists to support all teams and the entire athletic program at Winston Churchill High School. Our Booster Club has three primary goals: raise funds  to assist the athletic program, increase school spirit  and  encourage good sportsmanship among our athletes, coaches, and fans . We are a service and support organization run entirely with volunteers, and we work in harmony with WCHS and its athletic program. With Booster Club funding, the WCHS Athletic Department has the flexibility to broaden its support to all teams and stretch its dollars even further. Check out all the areas the Booster Club has helped or provides ongoing assistance to the athletic department.
