BSA CAR RUNS AT LONG BEACH GRAND PRIX! 
Justin Wilson and the #19 BSA Indy Car will be running next Sunday, April 21st at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Wilson already has two Top 10 finishes this season, and is expected to do well in this local tune-up to the Indianapolis 500 in May. SCOUTS TO BE RECOGNIZED AT 41ST ANNUAL INTERFAITH BANQUET 
Scouts earning their Religious Emblem in 2012 are invited to attend the 41st Annual Interfaith Banquet on May 4th at the Church of the Latter Day Saints located at 7515 S. Sepulveda Blvd. in Westchester. Hosted by the Council's Religious Relationships Committee, more than 250 Scouts will be eligible to receive their Religious Emblem Knot and Certificate in a ceremony immediately following the 6 p.m. dinner/luau-themed banquet. Deadline to receive recognition is April 22. Unit and religious leaders responsible for
aiding Scouts in the Religious Emblems program are encouraged to attend.

COUNCIL COORDINATED MEETING 
District Key Three's and committee members are encouraged to attend the Wednesday, May 1 Council Coordinated Meeting. Presentations will include an update on the BSA policy discussion regarding membership standards, JTE, 2014 Council Activities and Events and celebration plans for the 2015 Los Angeles Area Council Centennial.Reservations are required by contacting Gracie Peralta atgracie.peralta@boyscoutsla.org. Come feast on Panda Express when the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Early Bird registration for dinner is $10 by Monday, April 29. Reservations after the 29th for dinner increase to $15.

NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING 
NYLT is a focused, high-energy, participatory leadership course for Boy Scouts and Venture Crews. Interested Scouts are encouraged to visit the Council website at to learn if they are eligible to participate and/or register for the course. This year participants will have their choice in taking NYLT over two extended weekends or a weeklong format. Cost is $280. Camperships are available for those in need.

NAYLE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE 
Philmont Training Center will be issuing Scouts from the Western Region ten $200 scholarships for the 2013 National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience program at Philmont. The scholarships are available through the Waite Phillips Foundation. To apply, a Scout must register to attend and pay a $50 deposit. CRAWFISH IN SEASON 
Rio Hondo's Troop 54 is hosting a Crawfish Boil on May 19th at Firestone Scout Reservation's to benefit the FSR shooting sports program with tickets starting at $5. Deadline to purchase tickets is May 8th.

RANGEMASTER AND ARCHERY BASIC INSTRUCTOR TRAINING 
Rangemaster-Training will be limited to 20 participants on June 2nd at the Cabrillo Youth Camp in San Pedro. Cost is $10 per learner. USA Archery Basic Instructor-Training will be limited at Cabrillo Youth Camp to only ten learnerson June 9that $50 per participant. For more information on both trainings contact Priscilla Atwell at fibrfac@gte.net.


FIX N' FUN REGISTRATION AND PROJECTS AVAILABLE ONLINE 
Volunteers are needed to help with much-needed paint and repair projects over the Memorial Day Weekend. Reservations are restricted to adult Scouters and their families,  OA Members, Boy Scouts, Venturers and Camp Staff only. Register today by selecting your desired projects at our website along with the number in your group planning to attend. Fix N' Fun is FREE and includes lodging, meals, a Fix N' Fun patch, evening games and a movie. Up to 250 volunteers will be accepted. No walk-ins please.

WOOD BADGE HELD OVER TWO OCTOBER WEEKENDS 
Get Wood Badge trained over two weekends starting October 4-6 and 26-28 at Lake Arrowhead's, Forest Lawn Scout Reservation. Cost is $280. A $50 deposit is required to secure a spot in Scouting's elite training experience. Need-based scholarships are now available.

VENTURING TRAINING 
Adult leaders in the Venturing program are invited to attend Venture Adult Leader Training, June 1, 2013 at Cushman Watt Center. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m.  With training beginning at 9:00 a.m. and going to 2:30 p.m. Cost is $12. Participants are responsible for their own lunch. Attendees need to show proof that they have taken online Venture Youth Protection and Fast Start before the training date. For more information contact Larry Schmal at LarSchmahl@aol.com.


TOUR PLAN POLICY REMINDER 
Units are reminded that Tour Plans are not required for all outings outside the normal meeting place provided that the activities are within the Los Angeles Area Council
boundaries. Tour and Activity Plans are required, but not limited for the following outings:

* Trips of 500 miles or more; or
* Trips outside of council borders (exception: not to council-owned properties Firestone Scout
   Reservation, Log Cabin Wilderness or Forest Lawn Scout Reservation); or
* Trips to any national high-adventure base, national Scout jamboree, National Order of the
   Arrow Conference, the Summit Bechtel Reserve, or a regionally sponsored event; or
* When planning Eagle Projects; or
* When conducting any of the following activities outside of council or district events:
* Aquatics activities (swimming, boating, floating, scuba, etc.)
* Climbing and rappelling
* Orientation flights (process flying plan)
* Shooting sports
* Any activities involving motorized vehicles as part of the program
   (snowmobiles, boating, etc.)


VOLUNTEERS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO FILE ONLINE 
The Council will continue to accept walk-ins, scanned and faxed copies and Tour Plans reviewed at district roundtables and the Cabrillo Youth Camp Center. To file online,  registered volunteers must open a MyScouting.org account at MyScouting.org by keying-in their Membership ID Number. If you have lost or have not received your Membership ID Card please contact Council Registrar, Estela Chicas at (213) 413-4400 Ext 346.
