Breakfast With the Bunny
Fundraiser at Lakewood Women's Pavilion

The annual community tradition, Breakfast with the Bunny, will be held on Saturday, March 19th, 2016. Families can enjoy a pancake breakfast, experience a taste of spring in the flower-themed Women's Pavilion at Lakewood Park, have pictures taken with the bunny, and enter to win one of the beautifully-arranged raffle baskets. Breakfast with the Bunny is a fundraiser for the H2O program, whose youth volunteers donate their time to make the event fun and successful. Thank you to our generous event sponsor,  First Federal of Lakewood, for their support of this event!

H2O to Host Adaptive Toy Workshop
High school volunteers will work with RePlay for Kids to repair and adapt toys and assistive devices for children with disabilities in Northeast Ohio at a workshop on Tuesday, March 15th. RePlay for Kids will bring the workshop to Lakewood High School and teach volunteers how to install parallel circuits to battery-operate toys with a button to make them simpler to operate. High school volunteers who wish to participate should sign up through the H 2O office, as we will need to plan according to the number of attendees.
Anyone else who would like to help is welcome to donate new batteries (any size) or a new or gently-used battery-operated toy that can be adapted. Donation guidelines can be found here ; call the H2O office at 216-529-6045 to arrange drop off.

Volunteers "Leap Into Service"

When the calendar has ONE EXTRA day every four years, how do you spend it? H2O volunteers answered, "By helping others!" Speakers from the organization SOAP Cleveland (Save our Adolescents from Prostitution) discussed their role in raising awareness about human trafficking. The group's mission is "to rescue victims being trafficked at hotels, to provide victims a number to call for help, to educate motels and hotels on the signs of trafficking, and to mobilize volunteers on a human trafficking outreach." H2O volunteers worked together efficiently to label 3,000 bars of soap.
At the event, we also recognized our latest batch of volunteers to earn t-shirts for 20 hours of service and handed out certificates to our participants in the January Collaborative to End Human Trafficking Awareness Event.
